Thinking of changing in my trusty '87 4/4 4 seater - my boys are now too big to get in the back and would be good to get something with a bit more go and a hood that might actually be worth the effort of putting up!
On a budget of around £30k - what would you go for:- another newer 4/4, +4, a V6? or maybe an older +8 - be interested to know for around that sort of money which model would make the most sense for a reliable tidy example...

Having owned 4/4, then Plus4 then two Roadsters - should have gone for the Roadster in the first place!
Seriously, try the Plus4 and Roadster - then decide.

Newer 4/4's will have a bit more punch; but if you're looking for a fair bit more punch then a different model it is ...

I keep thinking the same. Your miss the space on the rear seats if you chose a 2 seater. It is a shame the mordern 4 seater don't look as slick as the original version.

I would suggest thinking medium to long term what is right today will it be right in say five years time. ?

I'm surprised no one has suggested a Plus 8.
Why not an older one; perhaps of similar vintage to your present Morgan. Perhaps consider an even older one without all the silly electrics. Most will have been rebuilt to standards that exceed that of the original build quality.
The Plus 8 won't have the 'chuckability' of your 4/4 but the Plus 8 has it's own charms and characteristics.
And of course one can't beat the sound of a V8!

I can support the plus 8 having had one for many years. Great car, effortless to drive, as fast as you want to go, easy to modify if you want more power and of course that great v8 sound.

Plus 8 would be my choice too. If you want the sound then twin exhausts....
