It clearly says replica in the text. I guess the engine is in the back?

Remember a factory tour some years ago and being told by the tour guide that Morgan had a "legal title" of some kind on the classic design so it could not be copied.

Makes sense if true - see several variations of the Lotus 7/Caterham and the Shelby Cobra at car shows.

Maybe the cost of enforcing it would be prohibitive?

There are plenty of Not-a-Morgans around in Europe, as you find if you search for Morgan for sale. At the moment one little gem is advertised as "Morgan Plus 8 Morris Eight Tourer" which is actually quite a nice Morris Eight Tourer fully restored but perhaps a little overpriced at €50,000. There are also a couple of "Morgan Roadster Marlin".

I can understand that these are just advertised as Morgan something to get the attention of a possible buyer however the Queensland car with its Morgan badges and MOR numberplate is really trying to be something it is most definitely not!

I guess there's a difference between enforcing a one off copy and a production run of fakes.

At least this one is V8 powered,.....still a sad caricature! Seller relying on Morgan name to draw attention to his misleading advert. Shameless!

Morgan has a world wide IP protection on the traditional Morgan design: this thing is a clear infringement of their copyright. They did this to stop kit car makers producing replicas, such as the may who produce AC Cobra and E-Type replicas and I understand have taken action.

But as you say enforcement when it is a single idiots work isn't worth the bother. I'll bet that if you tried to bring it into the UK they would bother...and if they did it could be confiscated and destroyed!

It really annoys me when cars are advertised as a Morgan when clearly they are not. It's becoming more common to see this on eBay.

It is different enough that it could not be considered a an infringement of their copyright if it were not for the use of Morgan badges and perhaps the claim in advertising that it is a Morgan replica. At least it could be claimed that it is false on misleading advertising.

That is hideous. Very novel to have a wooden firewall!
