Dim or what! crazy3 Hadn't thought of the phone charger. Will keep you posted when I've experimented.

I have an older model of Cetec and put it in the device in the glove box. It works fine and sometimes you can se the lamp switch to half and then go back to full. However it is important that you connect the plug so it is firm. If it´s not you can see the lamp blinking and the you have to turn the plug a little bit and you see the is firm again.

It's alive! Just tested and the 12volt socket is live with the ignition turned off.

I usually turn mine off on the cut-off; but didn't in September/October. Low and behold, dead as a dodo.

Jumped it and drove about 40 miles and stopped for fuel; turned the key; barely a click from the starter motor!

RAC diagnosed a dead cell and I'm waiting to go to Halfords for a new one.

A new battery will be nice for peace of mind. If that's all that goes wrong with the car, I'll be happy!

109er, Could you tell me what model CTEK you use? I also want to connect a charger via the lighter. Thank you

I can vouch for the CTEK as well. It is a conditioner as well as a charger and can be left on the battery overwinter if needs be.

OZ 4/4 - I know your query wasn't for me but, if it helps, I use a CTEK Multi XS 3600 through the under-dash 12v socket. Had it for 4 years and used it on my previous Caterham and now the Morgan. Gives good peace of mind.
