If you search aliexpress.com for dash cam or dash cam gps you find hundreds of different styles with or without gps.

This is the site for the software that works with it.

Of course you can also simply watch the video on you computer or TV

Many thnx for that. The whole idea is twofold: to (a) re-live the drive on my TV set from the comfort of my armchair woohoo ; and (b) provide evidence in the event of an accident. cop

Guess that makes sense... cheers

I just uploaded a screen capture video of the Datakam Player - Registrator Viewer software.

Note: Actual computer screen resolution is much higher than that shown in the video.

Chris,

I have a Contour ( http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/contour-2/4505-6500_7-35435386.html )It works very well in my Tin top, I still need to get a plug in the Morgan to keep it powered. It also comes with a waterproof case if required. You are quite welcome to borrow it for a test if you wish. I bought a seperate mountpack for it (JBHiFi). I got the camera from Harvey Norman. camera

That's the view I expect to see when playing back on my TV but without the extra windows showing location and speed of vehicle. All I need is a time-code like a CCTV.

Good morning Graeme

I would like to see your dash cam when you come to the next Club outing. BTW, have you tried just mounting it in the Mog to see how much of the view through the windscreen is blocked? Yep, that's the concern I have.... smile

Chris,
when I mount it, the image catches the end of the bonnet if I require it (I think this adds effect sometimes) or it will just shoot the road ahead, behind or side. it works in conjunction with an app on my iphone, and that acts as a remote control (on/off)and viewing screen. The attaching bracket is the same as a camera fitting, so you can actually screw it to a tripod and have the tripod out the window if you want, or mount it to the bumper in its waterproof case.

That does sound interesting. I'll have a look at it when next we meet. I was always under the impression that dash cams are semi-permanently mounted (by sticky pad or suction cup) and the recording medium is a memory card like a phone SIM. All I have to do is to eject the card from the phone after the day's events and play it back (using a card reader) from the TV.

If yours is demountable, I would imagine that the mounting bracket is also hefty and takes up a lot of space on the windscreen not to mention quite fiddly to mount/dismount.

Chris I will see if I can photograph it in place today or tommorrow.
The camera has a SD (32gb) card in and yes you just take that out and play it back via PC or TV

My camera will give the same view as Peters, without the extra screens.
