Peter. A head unit with a wireless remote is a must. The standard position is so far out of sight that no one can see it. I would not sacrifice the glove box, it is too useful for keeping the tyre guage etc.

I believe there is a headunit avalable that just plays MP3s and therefore does not have an aerial.

The original topic was about fitting rear speakers to a 4 seater and the question about space etc refers to the space behind the seats in front of the rear wheel arch where Morgan originally fitted speakers before moving them to the foot well.

I know, I thought I'd post the results of my investigations and the conclusion I'd reached.
There are suitable pannel speakers, but to get the high power handling you need to get the volume needed without any distortion they need solid panels and each speaker is at least £100 - unless you can find a system from a scrapped high end German car! They need to be shallow and waterproof!

Looking at the way the car is built my feeling is that there is room to put a head mount a bit forward of the factory position, in a nice bespoke and upholstered unit so it is immediatly behind the "front" of the hand brake lever slot.

I keep saying no, but I may yet do this. I just don't really want to butcher the dash and for the life of me I can't see where else to put the tweeters!

I have a standalone bluetooth speaker that I pull out when I want some music and hook it up to my iphone. It's not great but it was cheap and given it is hard to hear over the exhaust it serves a purpose.

Exactly what I'm thinking, I really like my dashboard as is: few Smith instruments and gorgeous wood full stop!
Plus, as you mentioned earlier, showing off 2 high end tweeters may attract thieves...

I have a radio/CD player and, under most circumstances it is completely useless. If you turn the volume up to actually be able to hear it then when you stop the music is so loud you feel everyone saying "look at that old bloke in his Morgan seeking attention". It's not a good moment. Besides a Morgan sound track does sound so nice without accompaniment. However, I should like to share with you the reason why the CD/MP3 player is essential. If you have not tried this I strongly recommend giving it a go. Step 1. Watch 633 Squadron on u-tube (you only need to watch the flying sequences). Step 2. Download the sound track. Step 3. Play the sound track with the volume up. I guarantee it turns a Moggie into a Mozzie and is heaps of fun. And, it is impossible to drive slowly and twisty roads become an absolute joy.

I really don't know why people say they can't hear music in a Morgan. unless we are going at more than 80, or perhaps even 100kph, we have no problem hearing the music.

I can't help wondering sometimes if there is not some sort of fundamentalist Morgan taliban that believes you should suffer in order to enjoy your car

Sports exhausts..... Also in a 3.7 I tend to be travelling at a moderate pace. I can hear the music, but not really enjoy it as it's lost in the background.

Hood up is different of course.
