Well, HiFi is in my case a healed addiction, it was a disease for morer decades. I´m focused more on the music itself and currently I have found some peace regarding the sound and possible change of reproduction stuff.
I started my disease when I built together with an also infected friend our first selfmade horn systems in 1975.
Meanwhile I have a small collection of some fine stuff from the motherland of HiFi, two restored pairs of ESL57, one restored pair of Rogers LS5/9 shot very cheap on ebay 8 years ago and some other speaker stuff. In 1995 I bought QuadII amps and restored them component wise (luckily one of two pairs was fitted with the original KT66 by GEC which work fine till today)
I went (just a bit) from British HiFi to American stuff and I am very satisfied with my current system since 6 years, Klipsch Jubilee speakers (the only pair in Germany, there is one more in the Netherlands and two pairs are in the UK).
Not that they are so expensive, not at all if you compare sound for money, but officially Klipsch don´t like to sell them because Klipsch has an expensive Palladium speaker line with a high WAF factor (wife acceptance factor) but which is short by comparison with the performance of the Jubilees. My speakers are driven by Mcintosh C22CE pre and MC275MK4 power amps.
Front end is Oracle Delphi MK5 with SME MK5 and EAR MC4 step up.
One big advantage among others ref horn speakers, I also suffer from tinitus from time to time, and regardles if you play louder or even at low volumes, the horn speakers are more listenable to me when suffering tinitus.
If some of you guys play guitar that would be another nice thread...

Well, went to talk to the "Nice Man" at this place today. Too the Mog, it is now filthy in the garage, but tommorow is going to be great so it wil get dirty again. Interesting going through standing water in a Roadster massive clouds of steam as water hits the cats.... Anyway, back to the story: Addicts Place He said that yes of course he'd sell me a nice new CD layer, anything from £1K to £16K but he'd rather not because in 3 or 4 years I'll be wondering why. I really should go for a network player, not one with an inbuilt hard drive but one that pulls files from a server. I'm taking SWMBO in for a demmo next month. The quick listen I had to a Linn Linn Akurate DS played through QUAD ELS speakers was simply amazing. As will as HiFi it does internet radio and of course opend the door to SONOS distributed sound. This is all going to need a lot of thought, but.....

You are not far from Phonography in Winchester as well if you need to have a little look about. They are in what looks like an office directly opposite a short stay and easy to drive past. Good bunch.
I am going to add an Akurate/Majik DSM to mine shortly. It allows me to focus the inputs from the various HDMI things into a single line, along with the music and pump them through the big hifi.
Sorry for the delay in responding to your DM, I was travelling all last week.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
