Got to spend a few hours driving around the Scottsdale area yesterday before loading the M3W up into my trailer and then driving the 18 hours back home.
After about 100 miles of shakedown, here are a few observations: 1. Bevel Box is quiet, only has a little whine on deceleration. 2. Bump Steer is very minimal, not even close to the amount that was on a 1959 AC Ace I once had [worm & screw steering with transverse leaf-springs]. However I do plan on putting on the comfort kit when available, why not if it improves handling? 3.There are rattles here and there, did not notice any squeaks, need to drive it more to let things “settle in” before trying to chase them down; pretty much as to be expected with a hand built car. 4. Does have a very noticeable “rattling noise” coming from the drive train [transmission area], sounds like nuts & bolts rattling around. Symptoms are as follows: No noise on acceleration. Noise starts upon deceleration. Noise continues when clutch is pushed in. Noise stops when transmission is put into neutral and clutch is let out. Does this sound like the compensator to any of you who have been driving the M3W for a while? Now that I have the car home, will be able to spend more time in familiar surroundings to observe and test different scenarios.
All in all a very fun ride, not real fast but seems to be more than adequate for riding the countryside. I really like this little machine. It does catch a lot of attention.
Very tired, more to follow.

My dealer told me the Gulf edition was not imported into the USA due to licensing issues??? Your dealer told you correctly. I ordered it as a Gulf Edition without the logos so as to get around this issue; however it came in with the logos in place - so here it is - a full Gulf Edition.

Took Mrs. Spirit out for a jaunt in the new Gulf M3W. Did another 100+ miles today. All seems to be quite a bit smoother; rattle noise seems to be a lot quieter. Miles today were all back country miles running at 60 to 70 mph in 30 to 35 mile stretches, with stops at hill country bars in between. After each stop she seemed to run better and better. By the last bar she seemed to be running and behaving VERY WELL indeed. Will continue with more miles [and more bars along the way] for a while to monitor her behavior. She is a looker indeed; everyone I encountered today asked all of the typical questions. I think I am in love with a new mistress. Wife shows no jealousy, she understands my love of machinery.

Was it what was consumed in the bar that made it sound better

Reminds me the film "Harry and Sally", whatever you consumed in the bars, I want it too ...

On yesterday’s shakedown run we stopped at the following in order: Sisterdale Bar – Sisterdale Texas Hillbilly’s – Kendalia, Texas Hungry Horse – Boerne, Texas As for drinks, Shiner is the choice of the Spirits. Only one drink per stop, so the blood alcohol level never exceeds the legal limit. Tomorrow we are going to make a run out to Luckenbach, Texas [“EVERYBODY’S SOMEBODY IN LUCHENBACH”] at 32 miles from the ranch. Lots of good music, and always a bunch of very interesting folks out there to visit with. The drive to get out there from our place is spectacular.
