Hello,

Here are the promised pictures of my 4/4 Sport. You can note that I have added some items:

- Chrome Mesh Grille (although now it seems a little bit too of a chrome work for me, sooner or later will change to a black mesh grille)
- Front over riders
- Luggage rack including back loop bumper.


I do prefer the "nude look" of my original Sport but wanted to add some protection mainly for peace of mind and I have the need to carry around my golfing gear which requires a luggage rack. I would have preferred full length blade bumpers front and rear but it seemed nearly impossible to do with the actual body configuration of the Sport.

Other stuff I was planning to add but I am still unsure:

- Single rubber threads and/or protective transparent film over the side sills that are already slightly marked by occasional shoe scratches.
- Shorter gear change shifter as I am growing a scar on my right hand's first knuckle as a result of frequent scratches on the centre console
- Front fog/extra driving lights, though I still doubt on the usefulness of these.
- Internal ambient light, possibly adding a couple red/orange LEDs below the upper leather edge of the dashboard.
- A simple micro-suction pad to stick my smartphone to.
- A mechanism to hold thins in the glovebox (maybe a net?)
- A small and thin shelf below the dashboard passenger-side to hold the car's documents and Morgan Owner's manual.
- Engine: I am definitely interested in anybody who knows a (cheap) way to get some much needed torque from the engine. Possibly a re-mapping + sport air filter and, later, a sport exhaust system?

- I was planning to mount door handles but was advised by Gigi Borghi to wait a bit to decide as these are really useful only if you drive it a lot with the top on. Due to the recent weather in Milan I was forced to do it on a daily basis so I guess this will be the main job for next winter!

Your 4/4 is a very nice and classic car. I like the green colour very much!

I am driving an 2013 4/4 and was also a little bit unhappy with the sound, response and torque. Now I've fitted a full Librands exhaust incl. the silent acoustic trim part. My first impression is positive. I'am happy with the response and sound. It is difficult to evaluate the increase of the torque.
Now I will fit an K&N air filter....

Nice car, I love the number plate, so easy to remember. Now I will know who it is if I see you around the lake

I have put clear self adhesive clear plastic (purchased at the cartoleria) on the side running boards (sills) to avoid shoe scratches. I have put it only in the area that gets touched by shoes. It can be removed easily on a warm day or after warming with a hair drier. The clear film is also useful for things like our parking permit and the insurance certificate, though I am using a self adhesive UK tax disc holder for the insurance.

I have Borghi's badge bar and fog lights fitted. I don't use them much as the headlights are pretty good but I think they add to the look of the car. He can do it with one driving light and one fog light which is a nice idea.

Strange that you have problems with the gear lever. Perhaps the 4/4 gear lever is in a different position to that of the Plus 4.

I like the idea of the tray for the documents but I have a map light fitted there. It might be possible for me to fit one, I'll have to have a look.

Lovely looking car Alberto - I have a 2009 model same colour in naked form. Infact that's the bonnet on my avatar heading towards Big Ben.

Your extras look good, with hindsight I would have left the doorhandles off.

Jays used to have a Sport in advanced state of tune, as you probably know he is a regular friendly contributer on TM

The clear self adhesive plastic is a nice suggestion, thank you. I will give it a try.

With regards to the tray (BTW thanks for adding to my limited vocabulary :-)) i was thinking of a light aluminium dotted sheet to bend and fix at the bottom of the dashboard but hidden more down into the footwell.

Another doubt I have is to substitute the actual slot-spiked MotoLita steering wheel with the old one I have from my previous car. It is a dotted one, which I prefer but is a bit "tired". I will investigate with Luigi on his optional thicker wheels, possibly my old one will be a good starting point.

4/4 Sportsfun,

Thanks for your suggestions, I will have a look.

I do not want though to get into a big € project (like throttle bodies), was more looking at something with more effective torque per Euro ratio. Given the great marginal value of a Morgan, I feel the border where it is worth upgrading to a +4 makes many 4/4 elaborations simply not convenient.

Need to make up my mind...

Door handles are a waste of time as are locks frankly, assuming a top down life style.

K&N & manifolds make a difference certainly to +4s

Hi Alberto, Nice car...brings back a few memories as I had the same coloured Sport fitted with the same accessories you have.

I wanted more torque...the Sigma is a lovely engine but you do have to rev the nuts off it to get any torque. The first thing I did was fit the 4.1:1 back axle which was probably my best mod on reflection. I found the car too high geared with the original axle ratios. Getting the engine breathing better is a good idea, I went for an ITG filter and fitted the Librands full exhaust system which improved things a bit. I finally had the Aero Racing throttle body kit fitted...not a cheap option and whilst the car sounded quick (the sound of the throttle bodies is quite addictive!) it wasn't much quicker than the earlier 1.8 Zetec engined 4/4 ......ask Budster!

Rather than throttle bodies I'd go for an ECU remap, particularly after trying out Williams remapped standard Plus 4 at the weekend.

Looking back at what I'd spent I would have been sensible swapping the car for a Plus 4. But then part of my enjoyment of owning a Morgan is to improve it, so I don't regret it.

I was thinking as well at ECU remapping, but that would be hard to do from UK to Italy (not aware of who could do that here)

I see that the Librands is very popular, are there other exhaust alternatives or is it the accepted best in class?
