Despite the factory sign off and the dealer pdi, a long list of silly things where missed on my Morgan. Most of which I found in a 10 minute check.

90% of the content shouldn't be there. Things like checking bevel box noise, checking panel alignment etc really shouldn't be down to the dealer - they should be part of the factory sign-off against strict and clearly defined standards......there is no excuse for abdicating this to a dealer. The PDI should be about checking issues that could occur in transit such as damage, battery charge etc. not fundamental quality standards.

The form is very revealing and shows that Morgan have a very long way to go to change their mindset about quality and where the responsibility lies.

I love the company and I love the cars and I'm sure great progress has been made but the manufacturing and engineering quality standards leave much to be desired..the PDI form is a sad reflection of that.

The new management team have to radically overhaul the quality mindset...I truly wish them well, as like all of us I want Morgan to thrive and continue producing their eccentric, fantastic cars..

I think you'll find that this is the factory check list and not the dealers as the bevel box check is part of the factory test drive.

It isn't what PDI means in any other part of the motor industry. PDI is a dealer check...but I hope you're right..

PDI

Pre Dealer Inspection.

Needs to be done at the factory given the amount of cars collected from site.

I think this is the form for the factory to use before it gets shipped to the dealer, not the pre (customer) delivery form/checks the dealer does once they receive the car.

PDI is a pre-delivery inspection...but one difference between Morgan and other manufacturers is that they handover directly to customers, let's hope they do a factory PDI....I guess Spirit could help us out with the provenance of the paperwork?

These PDI forms are what the Dealers use when preparing the cars for delivery to customers. Note that there is no provision for a customer to sign off on it. I do not know what the Dealers do with these forms once they are completed.

I was present when the PDI was performed on my M3W and I asked for a copy of the completed PDI for my records.

I do not know what inspections, lists, or forms are used by the factory prior to shipment to dealers.

Hope this clears up the question as to for, who, and where these forms are used.

Whilst not in anyway disbelieving what spirit has posted it's pretty obvious to me that this is an MMC tool. Most particularly as it asks for the dealer name on the front, I'm pretty sure the dealer knows who they are. There are also many checks on there that if it were to not pass would incur at the very least a big delay in obtaining the parts to rectify.

My take is that this is the pre delivery inspection used by MMC before despatch to dealers or customers, which is also being used by Spirits dealer (and all the others??) as a secondary check.

Cheers
