My 4/4 sport has awfull standaars conti tyres size 165/80 r15. These tyres have very weak sidewalls, making fast driving not al that enjoyable. The question is, could these be changed in tyres size 185/65 R15?? Without trouble?

175 or 185 is fine. Avon make a very good tyre

Chunky do have a name for those avon's. Are they CR6ZZ or something different.

Don't want to hijack this thread but I wondered what your thoughts were on fitting 175/65 R 15's mounted on my 1969's original 72 spoke wire wheels......same tire size used on Mini's? I would also be using tubes.
Concerning tires, not much of a selection is available here in the wilds of northern North America.

Aah ! BMW MINI's . I was scratching my head thinking hang on surely my old Mini had 145R10's on it. Not much Mini about a BMW Mini. The shape might be reminiscent of the Mini but that is about all. Watching a 6 foot plus NSW Highway Patrol cop unfolding himself out of a mid 1960's Mini Cooper S was almost worth the price of the ticket.

My cousin - a retired BA airline pilot - is 6' 5" - he used to drive Minis (not MINIs) and MG Midgets...

Like many others I cut my driving teeth on a Mini (1959 Austin Tartan Red 3479 UK). Wince every time I see the BMW job. No doubt a fine car but not a Mini.

Andy I used to feel the same way, but since buying a Cooper D for  I'm a convert. It's a great car, 'tho no relation to the Mini's I owned in my youth. In particular I had a 1968 Morris Cooper MkII called Linda which I remember with real fondness. Would be worth decent money now too....
