I had a similar sounding issue with my fuel pump , eventually it was traced to a poor earth connection , wonder if yours could be a similar problem ?

Mine also started the next day after the pump made a grinding noise and the started working. I also immediately had an engine check light. I checked the fuel pump line pressure at the schrader valve port by the injectors and only read 22 psi. Normal would have been 58 psi. I replaced the pump, cleared the faults and all has been good for the last 3,000 miles.

How do you clear the faults? Remove battery wire?

You need to download the diagnostic S&S software from their website. It will only run on windows boxes (not supported on a Mac). You can read fault codes in basic user mode and clear them if you select "advanced user".

Dealer replaced the fuel pump and associated relay after checking all possible causes (Including the earth connection). A couple of theories put forward which led to the fuel pump as culprit.
In an associated note, would anyone venture a guess as to why the fuel filter is mounted in the return line rather than the delivery line?
Brought the 5 speeder home Friday (40+ miles) then yesterday motored out to Lime Rock Park, then to Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, then home (Another 100+ miles) and all's well...plus I arrived home before the rains came! Happy Morganing to all!

Has anyone tested their fuel pressure?
If so, what was their result.
Thanks

P.S. i mean when the vehicle is running normally. I dont have a tester to hand.

I used a cheap throw away dial tire pressure gauge. I read the the pressure at the schrader valve located at the injectors with the old pump and the new pump. The old pump read 22 psi and the new pump read 58 psi.

This S&S doc says 58psi , I would go with that.

Thanks,
I am interested in how much more power the fuel system can deliver.
I was aware that the pressure is supposed to be at 58psi.

Whether this is stable now is of interest. particularly at higher loads.
