I've had one of those days when the toast would land jam side down. I decided to check the wing top sidelights on the Roadster. I've never had the covers off. So, simple enough job you might think. Nearside first and I took the bulb out to check for corrosion. All OK inside with no corrosion. I fitted some aluminium foil to line the housing, it might just make it a bit brighter. Refitting the bulb is a faff. Not much room and took a while. That done I moved to the offside. The fixing screw jumped out of my fingers and danced down the wing.It disappeared under the bonnet and did a xylophone impression as it fell and hit everything metallic on the way down, but didn't appear on the floor. As it happens I have some spares, but it took probably an hour to locate this screw, which had lodged between the wiring loom and the engine mounting. It took one of those long grabbers to retrieve it.
The second thing is actually good news. I've found something that stops my sidescreens misting. It was a moment of "I wonder if....." So what's the magic potion? Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover (of all things). It's a strong distillate of something or other and the label says it removes silicon and other stuff. It went on well, didn't affect the perspex, and after several days they have remained clear.

Dave - I know the feeling well. Sometimes the minute you start one of those “ I wonder if jobs” you know that you will be swimming against the tide all the way. You know it’s better to but things down, walk away while you are ahead and come back another day. If you don’t it generally ends in regret and then I get the voice of my father in my head. “I told you son if it’s not broke don’t try and fix it”. I’m still struggling with that lesson!

Thanks for the tip regarding the foggy sidescreens, mine have been annoying me for weeks now.

Tell me about it I got a parking ticket in Durham I have parked in the same area for years used my mothers blue Disabled badge for them to shop when I returned . Some B.S. about parking I think its because I never put that blue cardboard 24 hour clock on the dash , but its all day free parking for others and I was in the disabled for my mother. History repeating its self I was stuck in Crown court in 1976 could not get out in time and got a ticket. So much for being an honest person and helping.

I did not know that time discs are used in England. We use them all over in Italy so I always have one in the car if not stuck on the windscreen.

the side lights are wonderful to look at but a pain!

I took the cover off and removed the bulb to see if I could source an LED unit to give some additional brightness and also make sure I'd got a spare bulb. After some web research I gave up and it took me nearly half an hour to get a bulb back in...
You need very thin but strong fingers!

If you find bright LEDs to fit please post: I'm still looking for a suitable LED.

Peter....I fitted LEDs to mine....they are available. I'll dig around to see if I can find where I bought them. They certainly make a huge difference.

The probability of toast landing jam side down is directly proportional to the price of the floor covering. Concrete floor - like a garage, unlikely, but the axminster in the lounge - jam side every time.
