Now my real option would be a VW Tiguan 200Bhp Tdi Sport with bucket seats, DSG and full width panoramic roof (in lieu of 4x4 convertible that no-one makes) 35mpg all day long, a decent seating position and a bit of quality.

For under £30k would be fantastic also.

That would do me anyday.

Boshly you've hit the nail on the head. To opulant and your earning to much, to old and well! oldgit
The 530d is a brilliant car and like Kin I will miss it. Its not the cost of running it, it the fact the an ever increase lump of wedge is going in tax for something that is to me essential. work
Comes the weekend you can hear it sigh with relief we the aero is pulled out of the garage. woohoo
Question for the prius owners could you spend 8 hours stuck behind the wheel on a fairly regular basis? Thought about a 2litre BMW diesel, but want an auto and think they will be gutless.

Oh well seeing as Simon hasn't invited me or Boshly for breakfast yet when the aeromax arrives i'll try this one.

Dear Santa ( Alias Mr Morgan)

Please can I have a LIFEcar, my green clients would love it and the rest wouldn't know what it was so I could tell them I've economised and built it myself. Please Please Please make it within my budget wine

It depends on whether you spend 8 hrs mostly round cities or motorway. If it was the formal, then its Prius, nothing will beat it, if it was the latter, I guess it would be BMW with that powerful diesel engine, and most likely to have similar fuel consumption as the Prius.
But in terms of overall practicality and running cost, I think the Prius would win.

No disrespect to those of you where needs must but I WOULD shoot myself before having to drive around in one of those fugly prius jobbies. hide

I guess it's not me having to slap up and down the motorways regularly having to fill up. When I had my SRT 10 Ram I was sometimes filling it up twice a week at £120 a tank. Now that petrol has gone up so much it may have doubled.

I hurts when the only thing that softens the blow of driving on our overcrouded pot-holed roads is the metal we drive and now that's being taken away.
