Good man Giles !
Topless for me too although I left top down and will have to put up again in the gloom of Temple Meads car park.
Flooding getting a bit better for any T Mers who commute via FGW into Padd. Main lines back to normal at Maidenhead, so it was nice to zap along at 125 again.
Cheers
Jeremy

Glorious day here in South Wiltshire! The boss and I went topless to the pub for a pre-luncheon noggin. The locals took it well and we got the usual amount of attention. After lunch the sun was STILL bright and warm so I washed and dried Aldermog, then went over it with a quick detail spray: how loverly she looks in the sun. I noticed a couple of stone chips on the front of the rear mudguards... a "nearly black" car with grey undercoat makes chips a bit obvious. I also noticed on the rear pannel above the number plate there are aome scratches that look as though the car was washed with a gritty cloth at some point. So it looks as if a little work will be needed soon... Sitting, admiring Aldermog (why do I never tire of that?) I realised the exhaust ends were filthy: hot water, detergent, then white spirit finally got all the dirt and tar off. I found the Autosol and started polishing. They now look perfect and unlike Dave, who sprayed the perforated metal black I'm going to polish it... I know, Then I polished the Monza fuel cap and realised the rubber seal on the main cap has perished...yes, I polished both inside and outside. So another little "to do"! I have a feeling that over the summer I'll be spending more time than is good for me doing this sort of detailing. One insane thought arrived in my ever dememnted brain: if I had a lift I could get underneath and poish all the exhaust system, it is stainless. Do I need help? Do I want help? Is this normal, even if you name isn't Dave or Graham?

It's early signs of an obsessive compulsive disorder, that's what it is, and there's no cure. Nothing worse than a grimy stainless exhaust.

But if I polish all the exhaust system will people talk?
Will I be offered therapy or councilling, or will others just ask me to do their car???

People will only talk of you park over a mirror in the pub car park.

Just a test run today after bleeding the brakes and tightening the steering gear on the 81 4/4. Actually cleaned the painted spoke wheels while they were off. (Too much polishing and cleaning and the like being bantered about on TM today . . . )
Brakes good, but steering too tight. Backed it off an 1/8 of a turn. Saving the (re)test drive for the morning. Love this car!

Peter I have to also admit to a bit of exhaust pipe polishing. I will also admit to an annual Saturday morning trip to a local garage to use his lift to get under Stanley and touch in any paint issues on the underside. Stanley is nowhere near to concours, but I like to keep him clean and polished. In my book polishing an exhaust pipe is perfectly normal, however to my neighbours I am as mad as a box of frogs! (I quite them to have that impression). ps Also tlLB likes me to keep my bits polished
