I'm just arranging an easy-up hood from Williams for my 4/4. Apparently they are supplying Simmonds hoods. Can anyone advise how easy it is (when the hood is up) to open up the back for access to the luggage space behind the seats?

Don't know how they will be fitting the rear of the hood.
I had an Allon White easy up on my +4. Provided the parcel shelf isn't full it was just a question of reaching over the seats and undoing two over-centre clips, then the rear would lift up.

Cheers,

Thanks, Graham. I'm not sure how they will attach the back edge either.

My Morgan factory-fitted Easy-up hood has a lever behind the drivers seat to operate the two spring loaded prongs that release the rear of the hood. This facility makes it easy to access items on the rear seat.

Good luck!

I had a Simmonds hood on a former car and as Graham says as long as you don't overfill the parcel shelf its not a problem, I learnt fairly quickly to put 'squidgy stuff' like coats in front of the clips and then its a simple thing to do. If you have a zip down rear window fitted at the same rime its even easier provided of course you specify the zip to be able to open from the outside. I was advised that's a security question but if someone wants in then a zip on the inside will not stop them will it? Makes for a pleasant day in extreme hot weather to have the hood up, sidescreens off and rear window zipped down! It will stop raining one day!

You certainly wont go wrong with the quality Roger, Steve Simmonds certainly knows how to make hoods! Be aware he can often change things to suit if that's what you want? Well worth a meeting or a phone call direct to him if that's possible? Not sure where he works from these days but the dealer must know? I have seen some very nice personalised changes he has done for owners, great bloke to deal with as well.

Good luck!

Don't forget to undo the Tenax studs before you lift the back rail.

Getting quite excited now. Sad, isn't it?

Not at all ;-) If getting a Morgan of any age or condition does not get the blood pumping and raises the excitement level then something is not right is it. Hardly slept the night before I picked mine up, long may that feeling continue for you.
