Personally I'd not buy any car and after "one week" take it for a 2.5k km trip. I'd prefer to make sure not to have any unwanted surprise.
If you have it serviced in CH, with an hourly cost of labor of 175 chf, yes, it will be expensive.
Spare parts are not more expensive than Porsche or BMW.
Intervals are:
First Service: 1000 miles (1500km) or 3 months after delivery (which ever comes 1 st)
Second Service: 10,000 miles (16,000km) or 12 months after delivery (which ever comes 1 st)
Third Service: 20,000 miles (32,000km) or 24 months after delivery (which ever comes 1 st)
...

Thanks for that Al - if this happens you'll be the first to know - and we'll sort out some sort of exclusive Zurich meet - or maybe Ticino!!

I bought the Disco3 last November - 6 weeks later I did a 2,500km trip - it would have done it twice had we found the right towbar electrics adapter. That was fine - except for cutting out half-a-dozen times - and the EGR throwing up some codes eek

Meanwhile, because of you :), I'll get (soon?) the side exhausts.

Quite right too!!

The difference is night and day - and is almost certainly one of the main reasons I am still keen!!

Hakin Yakin's old Jaguar (XKR-S in French Racing Blue) is the other possibilty - and is both cheaper than the Mog; more spacious; etc.

The SS counters with uber cool side exhausts and a far more friendly to exploit chassis

(Luckily) the Morgan I would not name it a "normal" car.
It's like a new girlfriend. You need to get used to each others.

Ken,
I've been thinking about this:
Blue 8
to replace a BMW M Sport and the Roadster. I asked RTCC's sales guy exactly the same question.
His answer was that they have a customer with an Aero 8 that is at 100,000 miles and has had only the usual wear items replaced as part of regular services.

I suspect all the BMW stuff will be as reliable as any BMW, the Morgan parts are more the concern, but on the Aero's it seems to me that few, if any, are mission critical. I'm told that they are still prone to leaks so a good towel is needed.

I'm still watching and waiting: the finances are taking a beating at the moment due to the need to replace a horse, but there is always next year.

The Max is having a 16k Service and full health check at the factory as we speak, I will let you know the out come when I hopefully exchange it back for my credit card details tomorrow.

One point. Mid way through I received. Call to suggest there was slight ware in one of the upper ball joint arms, but Morgan felt it was not necessary to replace at £300, they were only advising in case an independent M.O.T on the car and not knowing Morgans might fail it, the good news was it passed its M.O.T. with flying colours only one month since.

So here you are......costing's of the Max over 2 years of ownership and 14K miles

2 x M.O.T.........................................£80.00 Net
1 ltr Engine Oil..................................£15.00 + VAT
1 Front brake overhaul Discs and Pads......£260.00 + VAT
1 Major factory Service and health check
to include:-
Recharge aircon
Renew brake Fluid
Renew Cooling Fluid (water & Antifreeze)
Renew Wiper Blades
Repair Gear lever locking Trigger
Re Glue Window seal..........................£1143.25 + VAT

taking into account I claim the VAT back
I am costing this on net prices where as
the Private individual would have to take
into account the costing's would be approx.
20% higher.

If this is classed as either a Super car
or just a toy I think those costs are very
reasonable @ £15.00 per week

Insurance is £980.00 per annum with Tracker fitted
RFL is £480.00
Fuel is @ 30 mpg...if you leave it in the Garage
that will work out very cheap.
wink
