PS - I'm guessing the colour is Minerva Blue? If so, it is a lovely colour.

David,

Haven't heard of that colour and it would be worth checking the VIN to ensure it has been repainted in the factory correct colour.

From the ad, the company don't seem to know 911s well.

Not teaching you to suck eggs but I'd want to know: -

Who did the restoration and was it documented and photographed.

Who did the engine rebuild and was it documented.

What history file is there? Sometimes 'it was restored and engine rebuilt' means there is little to no history file.

Hope that helps.

Highly unlikely this car was delivered in that body colour with red piping on the seats! A great choice of car but not this one, with those miles the car should be so good that a restoration was never required.

Kind regards
Chris

David,

From the dealers web page the photos say quite a bit:

Photos: 12&13 - Shut lines on bonnet to near side wing not quite correct (wings have been off)
Photos: 19 to 22 - Shows some of the restoration, the original car colour and condition
Photo: 22 - Shows original seat covers (i.e. without the red piping)

This adds up to quite major restoration from the original car which doesn't appear to have been in the best of states. If done well, fully photographed and documented by a Porsche restoration specialist then that could still be OK.
But IMHO, looking at this extended set of photos and the limited website information, there seem to be too many warning signs, as others have also suggested, to stretch to a join ownership of this particular car frown

This is worth watching, if you haven't seen it:-

I have now looked at the photos and would concur with my learned colleagues.

As I expected, the colour isn't original. I'd wager the seats/interior are from a Guards Red Carrera 3.2.

I'd be surprised if you cannot find a better example to spend your hard earned on.

I'd be tempted to call about this one:

At a guess, I'd suggest the 'Aqua' car was originally this colour but with tan interior:

This is a late G50 car

Sage advice.

Even the lizard part of my brain, seduced by shiny paint and a whale tail can see those shut lines, on closer inspection, arn't what one might expect from a prime porker.

Think might have got satan behind me on this one.

If you're a car bloke you've got to have a 911 at some point. I've had 2 boxsters, and to honest £ for £ its by far the best sports car on the road, better that a 911.
But….. when you're out in a boxster and you see a 911 you know you have to have one. I got a 997 and loved it.
I've had quite a few morgans over the years, and have been mid life crisis car-less for a couple of years and I'm agonising about what to do myself.

Get the 911, get the best you can afford because costs can be huge. Have it enjoy it and sell it if you get tired of it. Nothing is for ever. Just do it!!!

As Huge says, you have to do it at some point in your life.
I can't offer advise on a 911, but I can certainly say that its definitely worth scratching the 'porsche itch'.
I jumped ship from a trad I bought from new, to a boxster, as I got fed up with the quality issues I had for 2 years. The dealer was great by the way.
Glad I did, as the box is a fantastic car, but I will only have it for a year or so as the depreciation hit will be big. Bought it from a main dealer as it came with a porsche warranty so it is less of a worry if theres a big bang. There are some good independants too I understand.
I hope to go back to the morgan fold after it, if I can gather enough confidence!
