We covered this subject a while ago, and having discovered that the air filter is the same as the Series 1 Roadster, I had intended to change the filter for the 'as new' Roadster standard filter, then get a K&N in another year or so. But I've changed my mind!
Here's the original:

New K&N:

It slots in easily............

And back in the car.

I also bought a service kit - cleaner and oil, so when I do the Roadster service later in the year I can spruce the filter up.

I have heard, that K&N oil is just more expensive TQF (automatic transmission fluid). It's the right colour, and I did use it in the early days of Woodstock ownership.

Informed your insurance company, Dave? Mine wanted an increased premium for a K+N on another marque. They viewed it as a modification from standard.

Morgan insurers are quite modification tollorant and even then premium changes tend to be quite modest.

Yes Don. As others have said, minor changes don't seem to make any difference with Morgans!

Re the insurance issue.
If a straight replacement K&N for OEM is done then I would think that should be ok debated as a Like for like.
An upgrade to a full induction kit though, may be different?
A standard K&N SHOULD be the same as buying from any other supplier Halfords own brand/ Fram/Motorcraft/Unipart etc.
Unless the insurance company just see the name "K&N" and do not understand the differences. When I put K&N in there was no effect on insurance with my insurer.

UPDATE: I subsequently found that my Roadster shows a better Lambda reading at MOT time with the original air filter rather than the K&N. We've also more recently discussed the effect that oiled air filters may have on the Mass Airflow Sensor. I don't think there's a clear cut answer to this, but for the last 12 months my Roadster has been on the standard filter and feels just the same as previously with the K&N.

Dave, was the Lambda reading too lean or too rich when using the K&N pad? ...Or was it a dynamic affair, e.g. to lean at low revs and too rich at high revs? I am wondering because when I had the Roadster S1 I always felt that the low torque was weaker when using a K&N pad which was the reason I also went back to a paper filter made by Mann.
