Google may be your friend here. Contact or ascertain the specifications for the tyre in question & see if it satisfies your curiosity. If it does, the job's a good un.
If it doesn't, stop whinging & buy another tyre! Life's too short; get your ass in that seat and spend your time enjoying it..!!

So, to summerise, just about any tyre of the right size that is lying around in the factory, symetrical or otherwise.
More to the point then, what should the rear be replaced with?
Do we need a hard compound or soft, should it excel in the wet, or be adequate, I assume that tyre noise and rumble are not high on the list of desirable qualities?

The other thing to bare in mind is that the car itself isn't symmetrical!
(the rear wheel is not in the centre ) ..... Are you saying the rear tire is NOT centerlined with the front track??? I'm new so please pardon my ignorance of the M3W.

I'm new so please pardon my ignorance of the M3W. Dan, Per the drawing shown in the link below, the rear wheel most certainly appears to be centered between the tracks of the front wheels. Hope this answers your question. https://www.dropbox.com/s/hll7o2qzf6bddf8/M3W%20dimensions.pdf

I have noticed that there are different rear hubs, belt sprockets etc. My car and others produced in late 2012 and up to about Feb 2013 have a set-up in which the rear wheel is not quite centered. I believe this dates back to late pre-production changes when the drive belt was made wider and the wheel/tyre narrower (to fit).
Later cars have what seems to me to be a central alignment and you can fit the later rear hub / sprocket to earlier cars which I will do when the tyre needs replacing.
Haven't noticed any effect on handling (a driver only on board probably makes a much more significant difference to corner weights etc.

After roughly 2,000km/1,200 miles, I am quite happy with the Yokohama Blue Earth. I do not want a better rear tyre, just one that lasts as long as possible.
However, has anyone replaced the front Avons with anything else and with what results? What are the options apart from Blockleys?
