I have owned two 968 at various times. Loved every inch of them.

Both were the Club Sport versions, one had the M050 Diff.
Very cheap to run
Amazing handling
Built brilliantly
Great engine for a 3L 4 Pot.
Surprisingly practical with the rear hatch
Great removable sunroof, but heavy, best with two people.

The CS had nothing inside except great bucket seats which left you with a permanent bruise for in/out.

Sport had air con (which you did need) and electric windows plus the option of normal Porsche sports seats.

Buy on condition and history, they are a fantastic car.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

My local dentist has a 968 convertible, which is much loved and a fantastic car.
Very nice and they look to be great value.

They are great handling cars but lack straight line grunt.

The chap who owned my CS before me had lavished it with attention and money, including a full engine rebuild by one of the most respected people in the UK and yet it still only delivered the stock 240bhp. When I dyno'd it, the chap said it was the highest bhp 968 he'd ever tested and that unlike 911s (where Porsche under promise and over deliver on BHP) in his experience the 4-cylinders from Stuttgart never seemed to make the claimed numbers.

I still like the 968 and believe they are good cars but rapid they are not imho. As noted above, where they exceed expectations is on the handling front - with stock suspension (avoid those with tweaked suspension) - they are very sweet cars to drive and quite special.

Just been talking to a neighbour - he has a 2 1/2 yr old(think 991) white with red decals - it has required £18,000 of warranty work on it - ouch!

Thanks all for the comments on the 968. If I do get one at some point it would be for the looks, engineering and handling. Out and out speed isn't something I would be looking for. I have a feeling that in years to come so many will have been tracked and crashed the remainder which are left will be even more of a scarce sight on the road than they are now.

But then again if I come across a really nice 993 then the 968 may go on the back burner smile
