Guys Guys come on, take the exhausts off back to the heads and fire both cars up V8 petrol V8 Diesel both sound the same, its only the design of the exhaust that entertains you. On another note Chris Evans article on the Electric car in the Telegraph this week quote " there are two boots one at the back where we would expect one and one at the front where we used to fit something called an Engine" Certainly the Alpina XD3 sounds suitably impressive with its 3.0 twin turbo unit pushing out 350ps and 700nm - helped no doubt by the Akrapovic exhaust. The thing is - a Morgan doesn't need a diesel because it doesn't carry around 600kg of excess weight. To clarify that - a Ferrari 599 may push out 620ps - but its PTW is 344. The SS is 390ps and 312 respectively. If Morgans weighed the same as a small house then a diesel would be useful - but they don't - so its not. A nice NA V8 is the right choice.

If anyone knows Mike Snell of Bristol, he put a diesel engine in a 4/4 many years ago. Definitely not for me though, I have only owned Morgans with a V8, so far! Tim at New Elms mentioned that car. It had a non turbo diesel from a Peugot 405. Seemingly went well but sounded like a tractor... A clear case of "Just because you can does not mean you should"! If it was blue in colour I watched it at the Midland Sectio Car Trial one year. Made a good trials engine

It's not just the noise but also the horrible smell and soot. My bro' recently had a new BMW 330D Convertible (the one with the metal folding roof.)
Performance great, but horrid noise, nasty excessive torque power delivery that always unsettled the chassis, but it was the smell that was worst when the roof was down.
Simply horrid whatever the Diesel lovers say!!
