Take it to a autoshop & try your luck

Thanks Q8, yes I saw that listing. My tires are brand new so I really do not want to buy a new one yet. I am hoping Mr.Whitewall will be the solution.

I think the hardest thing may be that the sidewalls look hard to keep clean. I saw a few SD cars at the factory getting upgrades or warranty work and the orange looked more like beige, the colour of an old rubber band.

I had whitewalls on my 1980 MGBGT. At that time it had become the fashion, and dealers had the whitewalling machines - of which there must be some still around. I wouldn't have gone for this option, but it had already been done. A thin layer of white material was laid in an abraded ultra shallow groove in the sidewall.
What happened was that the oils in the rubber yellowed the white very quickly. In the end I used a whitewall crayon to stop them looking tatty, but the flexing of the sidewalls meant that the surface was always cracked in appearance. I suspect that the same process will take place with the orange walls.

Donald, you are correct, the color is far from a true orange.
I like your analogy of an old rubber band.

Try cleaning them with Cif (used to be Jif) watered down lifts the colour off slightly onto the cloth but does restore the orange a fair bit. Don't go to near the edge of the orange strip as it smears easily.

The second set of tyres I purchased via fleabay (Mr Whitewall) are much more deeper orange in colour.

If you have just one spot that's rubbed off, why not just reverse the tire so the bad side is on the inside?

It's still visible, but the chance that the blemish is under the inner fender is pretty good and you'll not see while moving...

Do a touch up as good as you can and my guess is that it will not show too much, if any.

If the orange is truly painted on like's been said, whitewall cleaner will probably not be good on the paint either.

Good luck though and let the guys know what you did to fix it.

Dab,

Sorry about my assumption that they were orange both sides.

The first one was the one that lead me to believe that they are orange on both sides, but then after reading your reply, I looked in my picture archive and found the second one.

Love the second one...that's my "Bitch" love

I thought the tyres looked brilliant when painted on both sides, lost it abit when they produced them only on one side, nobody ever did come up with a reason why the stopped producing them painted on both sides, shame really.
