Interesting Nputtick! Now that does look like a good option. A naturally aspirated direct injection engine with variable inlet and exhaust cam timing, fly-by-wire throttle bodies and ~200bhp from a relatively light unit in a Plus 4 should make for an economical, tractable and spirited performer. I'd vote for that in preference to some of the light pressure turbo alternatives, and the packaging is probably far more practical (no turbo or inter cooler and pipe work to squeeze under the bonnet).

At ~£4,750 with the same architecture as the current Duratec, it could be a good value engine swap proposition too, especially compared with some of the current tuning house alternatives to squeeze ~200bhp from the current Duratec spend spend spend

Agreed, but why stick with a fbw pedal if you go for throttle bodies? The spec sheet says that a mechanical option is available - then you get rid of another layer of interference between the driver and engine response?

I suspect it will have the VVC but I doubt 200bhp would be standard spec. What's the mid point between 110 and 270............
Well it turns out to be 190 Ha!, so my money is on 180max as standard.

The 2.0 L Ti-VCT GDI I4 engine developes 160 hp (119 kW) 146 lb·ft (198 N·m) in standard form.
