£10400 for a an old movement and zero watch producing pedigree is sheer madness. Whomever believed adding Morgan wings to the dial would create enough motivation for Mog customers to buy this watch needs to sit down in a dark room for a rest.

Got to admit that this thread really puzzles me - I just cant see the attraction in paying huge sums for a watch when a cheap Jap seiko or even your mobile phone will tell the time more accurately. Seems like a sort of male equivalent of fancy female handbags but women are supposed to be the vain sex, not us. Has that now changed?

Now I must admit that SWMBO considers me a bit of a scruffy old sod, but it seems to me that you couldnt sensibly wear such flash watches without going the whole hog on clothes and grooming to go with it. Saville row suits, Jermyn street shirts ( is that right?) made to measure shoes, even male perfume and moisturiser. Personally I have always taken the view that washing is the english way, perfume is the french way.

And if you do all this , how can you drive a Morgan without spoiling the effect? Do you have designer overalls when doing the odd job on the car?

This is a big miss. There is sense in brand association with other equivalent luxury brands. The Timothy Everest jacket is an example of this but a watch exclusively branded Morgan at this or any price point is all wrong. I wouldn't buy this watch for the same reason I wouldn't buy a car made by Rolex. I might however buy a specially made limited edition Rolex with a specal Morgan association, engravng or logo on the dial (if tasteful).

This is the subtle difference between cheap and tacky and interesting and collectable in my view.

Do I detect the "Ghost of CEOs past" in this?

It is naff and the strap has a cut leather edge that looks as if it cost 2/6 down the Portobello Road....

A pricey Bremont is half the cost and has more pedigree.



Chris Ward and Bremont would have made a lot of sense: specifically Chris Ward because of the cost of their watches.

A question for those more knowledgeable than I: Struthers London refer to themselves as "watch maker(s)". Previously I have been told that watch makers produce the movement of a watch. Is this not the case? Or perchance too literal a definition?

I am only able to see one watch they have produced prior to the Mog offering and this too has a reclaimed movement.

Selfishly I am disappointed due to wanting Morgan to produce a nice watch I could purchase. To my eyes this is not attractive or at an agreeable cost.

It's a shame that Breil don't produce a Morgan watch.
They do a range, mainly for Italian manufacturers; eg Arbarth.
