I want to improve the internal lighting on my instruments. Paul Goff http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffyleds.htm does LED bulbs for instruments. Does anyone know the required fitting? To remove the instruments do I just undo the 4 socket head screws on each one?

On page 47 of the 2011-2013 parts manual it shows just a rectangular hole in the dash and the four corner bolts holding it all in.
I would be carefull of the wiring harness and not pull on anything too hard. I would think that they would leave enough play in the harness to remove it from the dash before unplugging all of the plugs etc.
Good luck.

I trust you are aware that the instrument lighting level is adjustable through the indicator stalk button menu TimG? It goes from 1 to 10 and 10 is pretty bright. I have found about level 6 is OK.

I wasn't, although I think I knew there was much magic (and potentially, damage) to be done in those hidden menus. If there a quick crib-sheet around for the 'keystrokes' somewhere?

Planenut I was not aware of this function, I know pressing the black button on the end of indicator stalk cycles through mileage, trip distance, clock & voltage. How does the instrument lighting level work?

Tim, I'm with you, the only thing in the comprehensive manual is setting the clock! Planenut spill the beans!

I only found the secondary menu by having a play when trying to find a speedo caliberation function, that I didn't manage to find, some VDO instruments do but not these. I am not sure about all the functions of the indicator stalk but the backlight level can be accessed as follows: Turn on the ignition, press the indicator button until voltage is shown, press and hold it until "ILL" is shown then press it quickly so it cycles through the different levels (lights on) between 1 and 10. You can set the level with another long press of the indicator button. Other than maybe messing the clock time up I don't think there is anything that will "end the world" in the secondary menu but I could be wrong! Good luck

Thanks planenut I'll give it a go but car not kept at home, not enough space, so cannot nip out to try it. Many cars seem to have these undocumented display functions.
Tim.
