Dave, don't you find the satnav a little out of the way for easy viewing? I just use the suction mount to stick mine to the windscreen, as low as possible.

I see you have a tax disc holder. I have the same one but can't wait for it to become obsolete in October, and that would be another spot to mount the satnav.

Your red tell tale for 70mph on the speedo makes the point that parallax is a big issue with an instrument so far off the drivers angle of view - it is at about the 65mph mark. To my mind the road speed is so important, that I would be very unhappy with the speedo in that position. I much prefer it straight ahead as in my 2005 4/4 (and presumably your roadster) which gives the best of both worlds as both speedo and tacho are in front of the driver and visible through the steering wheel. Interestingly my speedo is almost exactly accurate by GPS, unlike most cars that read 5-10% over.

After taking a screw out it is clear that they are blackened, but the black coating isn't up to the job. So it is either cover them, as you did, or replace them with stainless.

My basic OCD personality means I'd always know that under the cover they were rusty, so I can't do it.

Nigel, my Roadster has the Speedo and "3 dial cluster" reversed from the layout on Dave's car. So the speedo is reasonably readable.

You are right, by GPS the car speedo is spot on, most unusual as every other car or bike I've owned had a speedo that under read by 5 to 10%.

My Roadster is the same Peter....re speedo position and accuracy. I thought my left hand would obscure the speedo but I find it pretty readable. Except at night, the illumination is dreadful!

My speedo is very hard to read a night, is it possible to put an L.E.D. bulb in it does anybody know?

There were similar questions being asked on the 3 Wheeler thread , it turned out that the brightness of the lights can be adjusted , I wonder if the same applies with Roadsters ?

There is an adjuster knob under my dash.

Nigel - I will have MrsW in the passenger seat when I use the satnav so she will be the relay station.
Parallax is a big problem at that distance, as you say, but also the 3 function gauge is partly covered by the steering wheel.

I much prefer the earlier layout (as per my Roadster) and can't understand why they messed with it, other than for 'the tradition'.

Yes there is...it works too....dim and dimmer!

Switch turned up full still very dim.
