Dave,
I am sure the MMC published the wiring diagrams recently for the Roadster and Plus 4. I downloaded them, so if you haven't got a copy PM me and I will send them to you

Dave, I have read several articles lately on the cut off switch behind the drivers seat being sensitive to position and being under designed. My 94 4/4 used to suddenly cut out. The lights clock etc worked but not the engine. At the time I though it was the chipped ECU chip but now reading this I am not so sure. Might be worth checking

As instructed I have re-visited the main fuse behind the drivers seat. It was scruffy, but waggling about didn't cause any coughs. However I cleaned it thoroughly, so now must await developments, or not as the case may be. I've secured the cover with another cable tie.

Dave Is the switch now a feature of all 4/4s; or only those with rear mounted batteries? I ask, because there is no such switch (or fuse) that I can find on my 4/4 (fitted with under-bonnet battery) Thanks

Dave, Bob who drives an 05 Plus4 was having cut out problems and non starting at times....like at Curborough on Sunday! We religiously checked all the fuses etc and fuel pump, as fuel was being cutoff intermittently. In the end we tracked it down to the inertia switch being faulty.

Bud - my only experience is with rear mounted batteries and I would guess that the fuse is there to protect the long main feed which runs forward to the terminal post in the top right hand corner of the dash. With your battery under the bonnet they may not have considered this necessary, but you'll still have the terminal post under the dash on the right, because that's where the loom splits into the main fuse box, so you may have the secondary fuse tucked away up there. Gymnastics with a torch should find it without removing the dash. Red wire in, brown wire out. (Brown wire may have a red tracer - can't remember!).
Jay - thanks for that tip, I'll check it out.

Well, after sorting the spark plugs, I ran the engine and had another cough. So this morning I decided to have another go at diagnosing the cause, starting by removing the dash again! After a while I was under the bonnet, waggling wires when suddenly I found the cause. The main loom joins the starter solenoid on the low nearside, and that wire, when moved, resulted in a cough. Because I couldn't look at the dash while waggling this wire, I had to invite MrsW into the garage to watch the alarm/immobliser light as I waggled, and that was it. So I removed and refitted the two cables, and tested - it now seems OK, so I'm confident that this was the cause.

Dave There are two further fuses under the bonnet, but remote from the fuse box. The bigger one of these being 50amp; I imagine that these relate to your observations?
