Just Getting Started
Third brake-light

Morning all,

Here goes again (again) -
John +4's post about the 3rd brake light inspired me to take a couple of photos of a solution I found for my own '89 +4.
A trip to a local biker accessory shop came up with two flexible self-adhesive LED light strips (30 Euros), the idea being one for the roll-over bar and one for the hood.
To make sure they stuck to the (Everflex) hood and also the 'bar tube, I also used some industrial spec double-sided adhesive foam tape.
The electrical connection is via 3,5mm jackplugs, with a flying socket wired to the car's brake-light cicuit, with a simple connection from one to the other for the hood to the roll-over bar.
The sysytem was fitted at the end of last year, and for the moment, seems to stood up well to the winter weather...
Although not homologated according to the relevent (are there any ?) EEC, BS and other Inter-galactic Normes, I've been told by people following me that both systems work quite well.
I hope that the photos work this time...

Cheers

Photos worked perfectly Chris.

That's VERY neat, looks like it was part of the hood originally, I'll have to investigate that further.

Thanks for sharing.

Certainly looks very effective.

I've started to make up a few of these LED strips as low level floor lighting on my boat. They work a treat.

The only thing i've noticed is that the LED strip can sometimes peel away at the ends....this would lead me to wonder how long a strip stuck the hood like that would last (?)

BTW...Just thought I would elaborate slightly by saying that I have been buying my LED strips on a 5 metre roll off various traders on E-bay (lots of different colours available). I think the last roll I bought was about £12 delivered. All that's needed is to cut a piece off to the desired length and solder a couple of wires to one end of the strip...and bob's your uncle. Three individual LED's is the shortest you can cut them down to.
