My blog is here. I've been neglecting it for a couple years but am getting back into it. http://mollynolte.com/I have yet to really get a good page up about my M3W. I need to update photos of my MINI and add more photos of my Falcon.

Compare and contrast to my mate who bought a McLaren 12C 2 years ago which has suffered over £100k depreciation, made worse recently by the launch of the 'new' 650S model, which is just a face-lifted 12C. And this following a commitment by McLaren to never update the 12C in such a way as to impact those (very important) early adopters from 2012. Well done Morgan I say.
I see that McLaren are offering free upgrades to 650S spec for all it's 12C customers. Well done McLaren I say. Will that idea ever catch on?

Just noticed step 12 in the fitting instructions is greasing the spherical joint - at my recent 1000 mile service I inquired about ongoing lubrication for the new comfort kit and was told it was a closed unit not requiring any maintenance. Someones pants are on fire ..

People power wins again - how very refreshing to hear.

Someones pants are on fire .. GM and other manufacturers here have used this type of grease fitting for years on truck CV joints where standard zerk fittings will not fit. Here's the link to Plews-Edelmann that sell all sorts of grease fittings and adapters. These are for sale on ebay for $6.25 US. I'm sure UK ebay has them as well. http://www.plews-edelmann.com/products/grease-fittings/05-037/

I collected my car today after having the "comfort pack " fitted. Cost was quoted as £165 for parts, plus VAT. Total in euro 240. Dealer clearly not happy that he has been asked to fit the parts for free.
Got a bit depressed talking about the compensator with him. He said that it WILL need replacing, if it's within warranty it will be slightly cheaper, but still the best part of 2k euro including shipping to the factory. If it "goes" outside the warranty period, it will be more than 3k :-(
Thoughts on the comfort pack; bump steer completely gone, but some of the weight has gone too. It feels like you need to turn the wheel more to make turns; needing to grab another handful when before it was possible without. At speed it almost feels like it is understeering, although there is no tyre noise to support this. I will have to get used to it.

Interesting comments on the steering pack. What you say about needing more lock than you were used to, does make sense, when you remember that the wheels were actually steering themselves, and the outer wheel would have been describing a slightly tighter arc, because the suspension would depress, causing that wheel to turn in more, then, it would turn out, of its' own accord, as it unweighted, even though you keep the steering wheel position the same. Even with the kit fitted, you will still notice some bump steer at either end of the spring travel, hitting a large pothole, bump or ridge for example. There is also still quite a lot of camber change, which is unaffected by the spacer on the steering arm, which would not actually help the inherent understeer characteristics in design of the car.

How does that type of grease nipple work Dan ? I assume a normal type of zerk grease gun fits on the left hand end of that device in your picture, but how does the hypodermic needle like other end fit in this type of nipple, and where is the non return valve? Thanks

The pin point of the needle goes into the cup on the bottom of the heim joint. You just hold pressue agaainst it while you pump the grease gun. The needle is hollow of course, but tapered down on the like a knitting needle with a hole in it.
They're a little messy to use, but there's no ugly zerk fitting sticking out. I'm not sure in this case though, there's plenty of room for a zerk, maybe just the visual of no fitting appealed to them.

I've just had the Comfort Steering mod and it's really good. Bump steer is dramatically reduced and only really affects the trajectory on large bumps or potholes. The car is much more stable on bumpy lanes and nicer to drive. The steering feels a little bit lighter and I wouldn't say I've noticed the need for any more lock on bends. Overall a very worthwhile mod which enhances the character of the car. I had mine on a trackday this week - Goodwood in the wet - and understeer / 3 wheel drifts were common together with the odd bit of tail out coming out of the chicane
