We are very happy with the results. We did it ourselves.

I had a call from my dealer yesterday to say they had the parts for steering comfort kit & bevel box NVH. They have done some investigation into fitting the NVH kit & the 2 hours quoted is wildly optimistic. It may take the factory this long after much practice but they reckon it could be 12 hours first time round. Anyhow the dealer is not willing to fit it as they would be very much out of pocket.
They questioned the improvement with the kit & it may only be 10%. So tomorrow I'm of to Perth for the steering upgrade alone.

12 Hours!! The factory are quoting 6/8 I believe - maybe Mark could elaborate?

I guess its value is in how noisy your bevel box is?

Thankfully mine has got quieter and quieter as the mileage has increased - it was replaced at 500 miles tho originally -so its possibly the Mk2 version.Now up to 6700 miles

I had the NVH kit fitted to my car last week at the factory and talking to the guys there, the estimate of 12 hours is much closer than the 2 hours quoted. It is a fairly extensive modification and requires some extra brackets welding to the chassis under the bevel gearbox. The £395+VAT quoted is a bit of a bargain when you see what is involved. The extra metal added must put another 10Kg onto the already overweight car, it's not "Lotus" engineering. The first photo shows the large beam that goes under the propshaft between the gearbox and bevel box and is mounted on rubber isolators. The second photo is of the bracket that goes under the bevel box. On the bonus side it does isolate a lot of the noise and vibrations and smooth things considerably, I can see things in my rear view mirrors (sometimes) and hear the engine rather than just the screeching bevel gearbox.

+1 but 10kg is quite a weight increase, I personally would put up with the noise.

Planenut do you think it was value for money? If it takes 12 hours to fit & Morgan are only paying for 2 hours no dealer is going to fit it for the price quoted. Where does this leave non UK owners who cannot get to the factory. My dealer said if I want to have the NVH kit fitted it would have to be done at the factory & earliest they could do it would be July. They may be able to assist in getting my car to Malvern.

Value for money, in that it is a lot of work and metal for your money, yes. Value for money with the improvement to driving, well maybe not. It does reduce the vibrations and noise a fair bit but I think that the better tolerances of the replacement Bevel Box I had fitted at the same time may have had some influence on that as well, hard to say. I had it done as my car was at the factory for a week getting a number of warranty and "upgrade" jobs done. As the BB was being replaced and the engine was coming out for the new Centa drive to be fitted it seemed like a good time to do the NVH mod as well. With those jobs and the Urban Cooling Kit plus my recently (self) installed Empire Kit, I now have a car that is a joy to drive, which it certainly wasn't before but it all came at a price. I think others have been through a similar scenario recently, spend some more to get the car you thought you had bought in the first place or cut your loses.

My car had a new BB fitted a few weeks ago, probably from the same batch as Planenuts, but I decided rather than pay for the NVH kit, I would just try the new BB to see what it is like, and, hey presto, it is virtually silent, well, if not silent, a slight whine when hot, but nothing to make me hot under the collar, so I am happy and have saved the cost and weight of the factory NVH kit.

The moral is, try a new BB first as the new ones coming from Quaife seem to be better now, if it's still nasty, then the NVH kit won't cost any more later.
