Greetings all,
Speedometer on 1964 4/4 1500(pre kent engine) 4speed , is fluctuating wildly, mainly upwards and sticks at 120mph mark. I know I drive quickly but not that quickly!
I think the speedo cable is at fault. Any thoughts ? also where can I source one.
Any help would be appreciated.

Speedy Cables will make one up for you. Phone or send then the original. I suggest that you check to see if the inner is binding or whether the ends have become rounded, not square and therefore slipping. Also check whether the ends have become loose. Finally, on 1970s 4/4s! the gearbox end of the speedo drive had a right-angled drive, possibly a Lucas or Wipac motorcycle part similar to those fitted to the front brake drum of Vincents.

Google 'Speedy Cables' for their details. Good luck!

David's suggestion is best. You could also try detaching the cable from the back of the speedo and pouring so gear oil down between the cable sleeve and drive cable. May help.

Speedy cables are brilliant, I've used them many times in the past but not on Morgans,
