I personally like the lighter interior colors that are available to choose from. In fact, I recently ordered my M3W with a light tan.

However, I'm beginning to think that a light interior color might not have been a wise choice for a car with no roof and am considering requesting a darker color.

If you opted for a light colored interior on your M3W, would you choose the same interior color again or would you choose a darker color the next time? How has the leather held up to dirt, sun & rain and how difficult has it been to keep clean and looking new?

I also like light tans, but if you often wear jeans, a darker tan is a more safe option.

I've got a car with very light colored leather for more than 6 years and 112000km now and the dirt is no problem since I am using the right cleaning and preserving fluids (twice a year). I won't worry about that.

I would have chosen saddle leather but my car was specced by dealer with black. It often gets very dusty but is so forgiving.

The key is keeping the leather clean and protected using good quality products.

I have the standard saddle brown in mine , I've had it for around 18 months now and used it through two winters and have done around 9500 miles .

I have cleaned it regularly , mainly due to the 'dust' that seems to accumulate in the car . Overall I'm very impressed with how good it's looking , so I wouldn't be concerned about choosing a light colour .

Go for what you like and want, as others have said clean and treat it with good quality products and it will last. Also a re-trim wouldn't cost the earth to have done as there's not an awful lot to change.

Mine is light brown saddle leather with Le Mans Green body - looks great and almost everyone says the combination is perfect - in 3 years only one comment that they would have chosen black.
On light leather it is easy to clean with the right stuff - I use Autoglym leather cleaner & Autoglym leather balm. and after 3 years of round the year use 15k miles - it still looks great. Also I have noticed that very dark colours are not so forgiving in that cracks & scuffs show up more.
Incidentally - before my final choice I bought a Tomy Morgan model (about £2-99) & painted it with different seat colours - luckily the Morgan shop had one in the right body colour.
Enjoy!

It sounds like keeping the leather clean and protected (along with regular dusting) is all that is required for maintaining the interior's appearance so I will keep my color choice as-is.

Thank you for all of the feedback. Very helpful!
