Looks like my compensator ( one of the original versions I think) may have to be replaced. Warranty work I hope, but I guess I may be offered one of the new compensators (at a price?) instead of the "older" version. Question: has anyone had the new Centra compensator installed and can advise?

Brabazon,
I believe that the warranty work is like for like. I cannot imagine the factory having a big store full of old compensators so imagine that "Centa" will soon be the only item available. I chose to have a Centa while doing the other three 2014 upgrades and a new bevel box and replaced exhausts. I cannot say what it all cost individually but the factory were fair and reasonable. The money I spent provided a better car.

Hopefully full upgrade to 2014 spec on Monday or Tuesday. Looking forward to the new centa unit. Is it noticeably smoother?

After 4 months and 1.000 miles I'm having my compensator "fixed" under warranty. Apparently it involves drilling a hole in the casing, fitting a grease nipple and packing the compensator with grease.
No sign of a Centra unit being offered.

That certainly doesn't sound like much of a fix, only delaying the time until the unit will finally quit. You may want to press for a proper replacement.

The two old style compensators are not fit for purpose and they will all fail eventually. I am paying for the new centa unit as I too have only been offered a fix, third time around. My dealer has been very good. However I will be asking Morgan to make a substantial contribution to the cost of the centa unit once I have it fitted. Both the Harley derived units are widely known to have problems coping in stock engines, they were never going to cope with the S&S unit. Just search the web.

The compensator is one of those things lurking in the back of my mind as i have only 5 months of my 2 year warranty left . It seems difficult to find out how much an upgrade costs , but I'm sure it's not cheap ....
As for them all failing eventually Matty , you may be right but I'm still on my original one (with no grease nipple) and am coming up to 10000 miles with no problems . Still got the original bevel box too .
