Yes, Aldermog, I'll investigate the Williams' wind deflector with Paul. I'm not sure I like the curvy look, but if it gets Jan in the car with the roof down, it'll be worth every penny.
Thanks, all, for comments on the mirror. I've clicked it round a bit, and almost got it to a reasonable position, but I think I'll go for some of the round ones I've found on line.
By the way, in my previous post, I don't actually use 'tongue' to blast past cars - the autocorrect clearly didn't recognise 'torque' as a word!
It's taken a while to get used to the Roadster after the Caterham, but driving back from Bath to home at 10.30pm the other night, roof down, tonneau half on, heater on full blast and heated seats warming the nether regions, was ...... wonderful!

That sounds like a great run back from Bath - some of the best trips are quick night trips occifer

Amrum, regarding mirrors, I initially replaced the original oblong mirrors with the round mirrors, those were an improvement.
However when I visited Williams for an open day, I saw that they were selling the round mirrors where the glass goes right to the edge. I had those fitted and what an improvement. "I have never looked back"

I have the original mirrors and it taken up to last week to get them right

Thanks for comments on the mirrors. Very helpful, and I've clicked the stalk round and got a reasonable view now, but it's not as good as I'd really Iike.
Regarding the Singer Gazelle, I've just realised you are referring to to the 40 years ago picture, and the car behind my brother. Duh! A bit slow on the uptake!
I'm pretty sure it was a Lancia Flaminia, although it's difficult to tell from the photo, although the number plate looks like CY 99, which would be right.
I'll look for other photos. It was a lovely car, but incredibly unreliable. I can remember driving to Gatwick via London to pick up my girlfriend (now wife) on her return from working in Spain, and everything electrical gave problems - windscreen wipers, lights, indicators - but the sound of the (I think) V6, and the comfort of a 3 seater bench front seat, brings back fond memories!

Round mirrors now ordered from Morgan Hoods, and will probably get a storm hood as well. Has anyone experience of these?
Loving the car! I took the friend from years ago (with the then Lotus 7 S4, now Caterham) for a blast on Tuesday, and he commented on the kick in the back when I put my foot hard down in third. The suspension seems noticeably better 2 up than when on my own - not one jolt even on some quite bumpy back roads. The Roadster is seriously fast, and so much fun.
I'll have to go round with a spanner and screwdriver this weekend. A screw came out of the side screen as I closed the door the other night, and one of the bonnet stops fell off today. Rather appealing!

I never had a problem with bits slackening or falling off the old X-flow. But I can see a constant need to check all is tight on this Zetec powered car - the engine vibes are quite something...

The mirrors arrived today and easy to fit - and even easier to adjust. They also look better on the car than the oblong ones, I think.

I went to Williams last Friday to look at a wind blocker, and decided to get one.
Fitted it on Saturday easily with Nick's very clear instructions, and it looks ok, and makes a noticeable difference. I like that it's easy to remove, and doesn't interfere with the hood, but will the wife come out topless now? Not yet! I'll put a photo up as soon as I remember how to!
