Great job! Are those silencers added the the exhaust pipes?

the stock muffler was cut out and those silencers/mufflers were welded on to the rest of the stock pipes right where the pipes come out from the heat shield. they are motor cycle mufflers and do white a job and quieting the car down. combine that change with the fact that kevin's guys at finish line did a bang up job at sound/vibration dampening and the car is damn near silent.

while the quiet exhaust isn't my cup of tea and in fact i'm wishing the stock exhaust was a bit louder, but not nearly as loud as the sport exhaust, i've lusted after the vibration/sound dampening work that his guys did and have tried for 6 months to get them to do it to my car but they are always swamped with show car deadlines and crazy projects.

Does anyone have any feedback from someone who has installed an Aero Screen from Fairbourne Carriages? I wonder how it handles the wind?

I have fitted a Fairbourne Carriages GT Aero Screen to my M3W recently and done a few miles with it now, so feel I can pass on some feedback. The kit comes with some detailed fitting instructions and is not difficult to fit. They do offer a fitting service for a reasonable price at their premises in Kent and even offered to fit my screen at my house as they will been passing when racing their own 3 wheeler Morgan at Cadwell Park for the June VSCC meeting. There isn’t a lot to the kit, 2 replacement screens and a central bracket but what there is fits and is well made. Duncan or Rose at Fairbourne will help with any problems with the kit.

My installation was complicated by the glove box I have installed behind the leather dash panel on the passenger side. Access to the screen retaining bolts is restricted on my car but shouldn’t be a problem normally. The original aero screens are a bit stubborn to remove with the silicone sealant and a couple of the new screen holes needed elongating a little to align. The central bracket picks up on the tonneau cover stud hole, I replaced the stud with an Allen bolt as the stud thread was not long enough to refit, as the instructions said to do. Fairbourne are going to supply a longer stud soon.

I have never been a big fan of small aero screens, they look good but don’t do much. The Fairbourne Screen does give you a bit more protection from the elements. The side extensions give your outboard hand on the steering wheel more slipstream protection. You still get some buffet but it is greatly reduced. If you are doing longer trips it should be less tiring and you could get away without wearing a crash helmet more (in the UK at least). I have found anything more than about 100 miles at a go is hard going with the small aeroscreens and no crash helmet.

The top of the screens are about 7” above the scuttle, compared to about 5” of the originals. If I sit up straight I can see over the top but I don’t usually sit up straight, so I am looking through the screen more now. Not too sure how this is by the letter of the law but I think I will see if anyone stops me and use Rain X, as Dan Lockwood suggested. The original screens can easily be refitted if I have to. All in all I would say these are a good buy.

That looks like a very neat design, sadly I've just replaced my plastic screens with Brooklands, like Atlante has, so will have to put up with these for a bit. They are certainly better than the originals and can be moved, but not as good as the Fairbourne screen I would think.

Can I say how nice your car looks, I saw your original pictures, but seeing it again, just reminded me how much work you'd done and how good it is now.

For the aero screen to be an aeroscreen and not need washers and wipers, the driver must be able to get satisfactory visibility without looking through it. I don't think the fact you normally look through it matters as long as you can look over it.

Not the sort of thing the average policeman will go anywhere near as construction and use issues are mindbogglingly complicated. Of course, you could get stopped by VOSA, but they generally are looking for overloaded lorries and tachograph offences.

That looks a treat, Planenut! Top job.

It looks very period and as you say, should prevent a lot of the slipstream drips off the cowl.

The only caveat I would add is to read the Rain-X stuff first, because some of it isn't recommended for visor plastics, but for glass windscreens.

I have the H-D screen on the 'Glide cut at just the same point, so I have the option of hunkering down behind it or sitting straighter and looking into the breeze.

keep us posted on what the screen is like at highway speeds as i'd be curious if there's a lot of flex in the plexi given the force put on it at speed

Planenut, when I mentioned Rain-X, I was still under the impression that the screen were glass, not a plastic hybrid.

Rain-X may still be good, but read the bottle first and even test it out on somewhere it won't be seen, or even on your old take off screens.

I think that looks great on your M3W. Is your red a red tri-coat pearl? Very beautiful color.
