I agree, I would have canceled the order after the first delay if it was possible. Krazy Horse however is my local dealer (still some 40 miles away) and they are a great crowd selling quality bikes and cars for the enthusiast. Prior to placing the order I did check out the market, I could have had a 2014 model with a four week wait but the dealer was over a 100 miles away.
I hope it all comes together next week, time will tell but it is frustrating....

Today, at long last I picked up my M3W from Krazy Horse and drove home 40 odd miles in showery weather. Tried to keep the revs around the 2500 which was a bit slow on the A11 as most other vehicles were 20 mph faster.

My first impressions were a bit disappointing. The car has all of the 2014 revisions except the comfort mod, which is to be fitted at the first service.

The engine sounds sweet, the transmission however makes more noise than expected which seems to be worse under light throttle but is nearly eliminated when pulling hard just over the 2500 revs. I was wearing a full face helmet due to the weather which may have made it sound worse than what it was,I understand that this will become quieter as the miles build up and the bevel box beds in, I hope so..

My biggest gripe is that it is difficult to keep it on the straight and narrow and it seems to wander and move across the road when a small bump or camber change is encountered. This I presume is bump steer and will be overcome when the comfort mod is fitted.
I tried to loosen my grip on the wheel but this did not help. During my trial runs in demo cars I did not experience this problem but then the wife was with me in the car, possibly the extra weight helps.

I stand and look at it parked up in the garage, it looks great, I know it's not perfect but it will be. I just want to go for a drive and get some miles on it in the sunshine. I will let you know how I get on.

Mike,

I completely understand your concerns and I absolutely felt the same as you when I first got to drive mine on the horrendous roads in Surrey, plus I also had the steady throttle rattle you describe. Whilst the engineering can certainly be criticised, the charm of the vehicle will get you in the end, regardless of these failings. Having said that, my not-under-load rattles have got better after 3000 miles and I have a pile of car-porn labelled Empire Wishbones Kit sitting on my kitchen floor waiting to fix the alarming bumpsteer issues. Your yet-to-be-fitted Comfort Kit should go a long way to addressing your concerns I suspect.

But, what sealed the car in my heart was a proper road trip - not continual flips round local friends to show them, but a proper road trip where you can live with it for a few days and then truely enjoy the unique experience it offers. Bumpsteer is the serious one to fix (and you will be able to, easily) - the others you can ignore with custom-made earplugs, some decent weather and exciting open roads.

Keep the faith chap!

Mike , i can't remember the recommended revs for running in , but I would have thought keeping below 2500 was a bit low , they really don't like lugging around at such low revs .

As for the bump steer , it seems to be worse on some cars than others , mine was terrible , but the comfort kit has transformed it , bumpy back roads have now become fun ! (instead of scary !)

I totally agree with HJP, it was frightening some times, but now much much better.
I didn't fit the comfort kit I lowered the ride height by 30mm or so, does the same job really.

I am not familiar with V twins but a no load 3000rpm is normal for running in.

I'd have to agree with all that has been said, I believe the owners manual recommends using no less than 2750 rpm, whether running in or even later, I think that both engine and compensator are happier when it is spinning a bit.

I am sure the little beast will grow on you, as it has with the rest of us, but there will always be something to keep us moaners happy or should that be unhappy, but in fairness, we are always having fun, even when fixing the thing, well minor quibbles anyway.

Mike
The ECU limits revs for a running in period in 2 stages, its in the hand book. With new tyres they need running in on any car, 50 mph max for 50 miles.
I wonder if your tyre pressures are OK & did Crazy Horse check the toe out on front wheels? On mine there was bump steer but it certainly wasn't wandering & the comfort kit made a big difference.
