You're lucky, mine hasn't even sat in it stationary and I got if in february last year.

Over 12 years ago I had a 1964 Bentley S3 & a long journey 20 miles done & 380 to go. I braked for a car turning out in front & the pedal went to the floor. Checked as best I could & seemed pedal broken. Nearly all my journey was dual carriageway or motorway so I carried on at 50 mph with everything passing me trusting to the hand brake. Made it home fine but never again. Pedal cross shaft had sheared & a second-hand one fixed it.

When I was about 19 I had a brake hose fail on an old car as I was going down hill towards a red light at a pedestrian crossing. I pulled on the handbrake and not much happened. I then went onto the footpath blowing my horn all the way. I can still remember the frozen look on the face of the frozen postman on the footpath. Obviously I couldn't hit him so back onto the road and I aimed for the insufficient space between the poles and the nearest car. Bang crash and through I went to eventually pull up in the driveway of a service station. The guy in the car, that I was sure I had hit, came over to see if I was ok. By some incredible stroke of fortune I had only sideswiped the poles and not hit his car. He was quite relieved about that too, as he explained it was brand new and he had only picked it up the day before.

But not so good when it happens on an 18 month old car ?!

No it isn't. But better than a 25 month old one.

As someone said before, they made a pedal change out in November 2012.

This is the revised pedal assembly for November 2012 and on. I would have to assume that this is the current assembly in new M3W's.



All of the aftermarket pedal assemblies that I've researched have the brake rod and clutch rod clevis directly attached to the pedals and does not rely on a secondary shaft or lever to actuate either master cylinder.

The original M3W design was very poor and I could see a recall to retrofit the new style direct coupled rod to pedal style.

Granted there was probably a flaw in the weld of the secondary lever, but it did fail and this could have be a deadly failure. Count your blessings that it happened when it did.

You can see on the revised November 2012 and on that at least the brake rod is attached to the pedal and no secondary lever to rely on.

Having been away for the weekend with poor internet connection I'm amazed to return and find that there's not more concern about potential brake failure !

The replacement pedal from Morgan looks remarkably similar to the one that broke , and as of Saturday Morgan had not asked for the broken one to be returned for inspection ......

Not good reading at all, Im off on a trip to Italy and south of France soon.

We all assumed you'd been womanising again & that it was sabotage from an angry husband, Hugh!!

It's a serious matter for sure, and I'd be putting a call into Morgan myself to get first hand reassurance that there will be no repeat.

It may be a 'one-off' as Google won't pick anything up off the web other than yours, but clearly this isn't a foolproof method of research & that call to Morgan would include this question.

Practically, would the good engineers over at Krazy Horse engage in some modification for a belt & braces solution maybe? Is this something that's possible?

Finally, can we see some good photo's of the carnage?

I'm sure the train has a different pedal arrangement..
