Good to hear. For info, the handbook does recommend disconnecting the battery if leaving the car for more than a few weeks.

If we disconnect the battery for a few weeks,are u sure the ecu doesnt get flushed?

I use a trickle charger and leave it plugged in. About £30 off ebay

I regularly use a Battery Brain to remotely disconnect the battery when I leave the car for more than a couple of days.

Definitely agree on the trickle charger. Buy a CTEK or similar, wire the wire set to the battery clamps and have the connector exit in front under the fake grille and secure with tie wrap. If off road for more than two days connect up.

I use one on my +4 racer and can get 5-6 years out of the battery.

A lot of you seem to be using the words "trickle charger". A trickle charger will produce a low current 12v charge, but will continue to maintain that same charge rate regardless of the charge state of the battery. This is not a good thing to do.

What I believe most are meaning to say is "battery tender" of sorts. These charger will not charge a dead battery, but will maintain proper voltage in a charged battery. They have a brain of sorts that will allow the charge to go off when the battery voltage has been reached, but kicks back on when it get below a predetermined voltage.

There are many brands of these available, I use one on my motorcycle all the time. Like TomS said, wire up a two connector plug that has a rubber snap cap that covers the pins when not in use. Then wire your battery tender with the mating plug.

These are available at most motorcycle shops for just a couple dollars.

I think we call them a Battery Conditioner and Dan is right about their application. I find them a very handy tool.

Bump to this old thread. Went out to give the 3 Wheeler its monthly start and it seems the cold has left the battery too flat to turn her over.

I have a trickle charger (and jumper cables) but upon reading the M3W handbook under section 14 jump-starting, it says to secure the negative "to a good earth on the chassis." Being that the chassis is powder-coated, where would this location be?

I may be completely wrong, but so far I used to connect the + with plus and - with minus straight on the battery on all cars and bikes when I needed jumpstart.
