I thought Aero racing used to offer side exit tail pipes for 4/4 & +4 ?.

Hi there
Just been playing with the idea of putting a side pipe on my 1.8 duratec 4/4.
Anyone any thoughts or ideas if it would be any good?
Also looking at changing the exhaust manifold and cat. I have ones from a +4 duratec and wondering if they would work. The manifold especially looks like it was thought about a bit more.

Gaz Hi Gaz Have a look here. https://www.flickr.com/photos/116051653@N07/12250686393/in/set-72157640417787664 Side exit fitted to a 4/4 Sport on standard down pipes and Cat no ECU changes checked on the dyno to insure safe running 134bhp... from stock checked on dyno 114bhp. From a Racing re-packable Morgan V8 with Intake pipe to suit my down pipe. Sounds good too! Cain Hi Cain I put a similar Librands sport exhaust pipe on my 4/4 with no changes to CAT or manifold. Do I understand from your post that you are now getting 134bhp with same set-up. I do not think I saw any performance increase. I also note you have some protection on the wing where the exhaust exits. I just put a chrome tip on the exhaust outlet. Do you recommend some real protection there? Regards Garret

Cain: I never thought of the +8 box as the 1.8 4/4 uses the same diameter pipes as the roadster and +4 where as the 1.6 ones were slightly smaller diameter. As Garret pointed out with the protection u fitted, is it necessary or just for the eye?
Cat 302: they do still I think, but I was curious if it made a difference before I bought one, and second hand would be cheaper hopefully.

Regards Garret Hi Garret I also fitted a K&N in the standard box and moved the air intake to the grill, and yes 114.5 bhp to 133bhp (sorry stand corrected on bhp) and the torque figure 98 lbf-ft to 102 lbf-ft. The protection is not for the Silencer, its for the harness latch when it falls out of the door  I have no added Heat protection only the standard heat reflective stuff fitted at the factory from new along where the original exhaust ran. So if you have no factory fitted heat protection I would fit some. Kind regards Cain

Would you mind telling me what K&N filter to fit and if you have any detail on how you moved the are intake to the grill, I would be grateful if you could share some details. seems like a quick and neat fix for some extra horsepower! I had side pipe on a kent Engine(very used) used to colour one side of my face with oil .that was a long time ago..
Much more sensible now -have just (today) driven from Sweden in my +8
with very short straight thru silencers and am totaly deaf !

Hi Garret For 4/4 Sport with Morgan standard air box K&N part no K/N33-2877 for ford focus 2 1.4l 1.6l 2.0l C-Max1.6l The Air intake some ting like this http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performanc...-stepped-outletBut I can't find the invoice it came of flee bay, mine seems to measure externally 100mm x 175mm with off. I used the standard hose from air box (mounted under box) and moved it to the front grill area. Remove grill to fix air intake to the air duct.
