Smell of Exhaust fumes in the cab when slowing down . This is only noticable when driving with the hood down
Has any body experienced this problem, any what was the remody

Never noticed that. Is this in a trad? I noticed on my +4 that exhaust fumes come back at you at around 80 mph

Not myself but a pal with a single exhaust +8 had the problem which he said was helped by fitting an exhaust chrome 'trim' which lengthened the pipe so it protruded farther at the back.

Yep have experienced this, mainly when Rosie had single pipe, now double full stainless. Also I found after tuning her on a rolling road, involving adjusting the throttle stepper position, it improved. The backdraft on a Morgan tends to roll into the rear of the cockpit, even with side screens off. If you lift off quick at speed there will be some unburnt fuel dumped down the pipes and if what you are experiencing smells petrol like then this is why. It would be worth putting yours up on axle stands. Jack up front in centre of front cross member, stands under chassis just behind axles, jack up rear at centre of chassis cross member at rear, be careful it does not slip as car goes up and then stands under chassis members next to rear wheels. Once up I air check every not and bolt on the exhaust system, I have twice found loose bolts on mine even though previously tightened hard. Morgans twist and flex and have the effect of loosening bolts. Any loose flange fittings could cause exhaust smells to escape early and into the car.

I have had fumes drawn back inside on my +4 (2008)on overrun but only with the side screens on (hood down of course), not much but I have noticed it when rolling up to an island and in the 50-30MPH range, above or below that it does not seem to happen or is not noticeable is probably more accurate. Checked everything and no leaks but wise to follow advice to look for petrol stains and do a full spanner check of the exhaust whilst your under there (in fact why not spanner check everything? it all helps)

If exhaust bolts work loose would it not be a good idea to fit castellated nuts and wire lockable bolts or split pins?

Or would restricting movement risk causing cracks in the exhaust?

Side or tail exhaust?

Think I've hear of 4 seaters doing this and the cure with a tail exhaust was to lengthen it slightly.

Try philidas nuts; they're self-locking but without the nylon insert so there's nothing to melt. Very useful on exhaust systems.
