As I used two alloy bars from the bottom of the shocks to attach the whole thing articulates and the bendy indispension mudguard does the rest

I have fitted a mudguard following nippymog's photo sequence. Thanks nippymog for the photos. I ordered part MG008 from Indespension which arrived in 2 days. Unpacking I thought this is very stiff then I realised it was 2 nested mudguards so I have a spare.
I cut & attached my mudguard to the factory 'deflector' as nippymog but found I could not fit it to the original mounting holes as the new guard was holding it off at an angle. I used another bolt on the short leg of the deflector to pull it more upright. Even then I was struggling to line the bolts up for the original holes until I had opened the holes out on the guard a lot.
You need to work underneath so I made a ramp of wood blocks to raise the rear. As nippymog I attached the rear of the new guard to the frame but used only one bolt to the guard. As fitted it just clears the fuel filler pipe when static so cannot go any higher.
There is 75mm clearance to the tyre. With one up I have not heard any rubbing noise but then I might not with all the other cacophony. I hope this clearance will be enough. Without the new guard there is over 100mm clearance tyre to boot liner.

MG008 is the one to go for, I dispensed with the ali deflector all together mounting the mud guard through the existing holes in the swing arm with about 50mm of mudguard protruding below the swing arm.
Use the ali deflector plate as a template for trimming the plastic and drilling the holes.
A block of 3 x 2 on top of the tyre is a good place to start for clearance.
I've had 30 stone of driver and ballast in the car without any fouling of tyre or boot liner.

I've just spent the weekend doing a very similar job to mine. I'm fortunate in that there's an Indespension unit in Northampton, and it was about £14 for the MG008 mudguard.

I've just hacked it to fit as Dab of Oppo's, ie directly to the swing arm.

Just debating about solid fixing or going the extra mile and mounting to the swing arm. We'll decide tomorrow.

The amount of shizzle around in the boot without it is unbelievable. This is a Must Do mod.

Hi Stringers, put a piece of 3 x 2 on top of the back tyre as a spacer then make up some brackets for the back end.
If you only use 1 bolt/rivet at each connection the whole arrangement will articulate and take up any movement in the mudguard. There is very little anyway.

Steve, my advice is to go for the swing arm mount, simple and efficient IMHO. It has worked well anyway. I left mine full length and it comes down below the height of the body, might have been better shortened by a few inches but works well.

Dab is right about the block of wood. I forgot to remove it and wondered what the clunk was as I left the garage!
