Swindon council could stop paying for speed cameras because it says "they might not be the best way to make roads safer"......... or more accurately, they have found that speed cameras no longer line the council's pockets, as the Treasury now "nicks" all the proceeds. Nuff said!!

Would be nice if it signalled a trend away from scameras but I imagine it won’t as it is an important revenue stream for the government. I think we'll have the pleasure of more 'average speed' cameras in the future
