Out in Monument Valley, Utah on a straight road (thank goodness) the bevel box seized up. Instantly locking the back wheel. How may fiancé managed to maintain control is a wonder. I was following on a motorcycle and able to watch the mayhem. It took about half a dozen of our group to drag it out of the roadway. Home now. All is well. The dealer came a few hundred miles to trailer the M3W back to the shop. We have about 2500 miles. I'll continue to update on how things go with the warranty and getting replacement parts. pic attached. Pretty straight skid but the front end was dancing from side to side.

GreyGoose, sorry to hear this happening.

From the looks of the picture you're in for a bad flat spot on the tire. I would make sure that they look at that and if you can feel it, they need to replace it.

About the only way for a bevel box like this without any spider gears like a normal car rear differential, is to be out of oil in the box and seize it up. There's only the bearings with the ring and pinion gears, so not much to break and lock it up. A chipped pinion or ring gear would have very noisy for some time.

Hope it gets fixe quickly. That is a very pretty sky you have there in Utah.

Have a great Memorial Weekend.

Yikes!!!

Did the bevel box ever go through a fluid change before it went south?

I hope it gets straightened out so you can get back on the road again.

Best of luck!

Mine virtually seized on 164 miles. Didn't actually lock up, just made a big clattering noise then grated very painfully as we crawled to a nearby pub car park.

On the Bevel Box thread I subsequently started someone did report that theirs seized and caused the car to spin 180 degrees.

From what I was told at the factory, very few Bevel Boxes have actually seized up. Mine was classed as seizing up.

You look to have had a lucky escape, but still a very scary experience.

Hope they get you soon back on the road
