The wife of a friend of mine, when they were looking in my garage recently, commented that I have all my cars on "life support". She saw all were on Battery Tenders. I thought that was an apt description.

Righty ho I am supposed to be walking the hound and shopping whilst swmbo takes her mum to Bath!

What am I doing? in light of my suspicions of the slow start up of my the Roadster I thought I'd have a look at the battery.

It's a red 50 200 58Ah 450A jobby by the look of it, does it have serviceable cells or are they actually sealed for life? as I thought I'd check out the electrolyte levels!

It turns out that it has a CTEK lead already wired in which is a bonus as guess who just happens to have a CTEK already thumbs

Looking at the layout I guess if I were to top up cells (if able to) or replace the battery then I remove it via the panel behind the passenger seat? (its a 2010 Roadster)

Now currently rofl charging ( may let it have Saturday off quiet

Make sure that there is a fuse between the CTEK and battery.

The standard CTEK lead doesn't come with a fuse why do you suggest it needs one? I have never had an issue bare in mind the UK units have a fuse in the mains plug.

That's how they told me to get at the battery in my +4 when I bought it.

At Williams Tom siad they change batteries whilst the car is up on the lift. It is a lot easier!

The battery should last 5 or more years, they are good quality and sealed.

I find after 3 or 4 weeks unused it needs charging, but with regular charge it is fine. Over the winter I use a trickle charger thing, another refugee from the Bike.

Just make sure the connections are good.

Can you use the cigarette lighter socket with a CTEK?

I think I maybe fitting a Voltmeter - you can't have to many dials - and they are great for that instant diagnostic - a Smiths one of course

Did you also take out the parcel shelf and tool tray to get to the battery as well? With those panels off and the alloy plate taken out its a lot easier to get at the battery.
