We 'discovered' the real Scotland a couple of years back, recently we have toured Orkney, Shetland and the Highlands twice, few weeks time we are off to the Western Isles... unfortunately at least at the moment not in Mog. May show SWMBO 'some' of these posts to get her to change her mind. Like the idea of her flying on ahead, lots of opportunity there certainly for the future.....hmmmm got my mind in overdrive now!

One of our group suggested sending swmbo on ahead by train.
But with her sense of direction, she'd probably end up in Cornwall... laugh2

I'd have a week where I didn't need an ear defender for the left side rofl

Just another very important point - on some islands & remote areas fuel stations are few and far between - so always make sure you have plenty in the tank as fuel consumption may not be too good on steep, narrow & twisty roads complete with potholes.

"Smidge" works well to keep the blighters away! Just testing it out on Orkney at the moment...our first midge evening!
Everyone has covered everything. Fuel is no problem...I cope with a 200 mile range on the GS with no problems so a Morgan should be fine. For security there is a stainless lockable mesh cover you can get to lock over soft baggage in various sizes but as I'm not home I can't tell you who makes it! It's great for security though.
One last bit of advice...put your foot down going though Benbecula!

I used to commute Worcester to Washington every other week, I love the trip, but then I love both places. Jct 64 A1(M), Washington is around 4hrs from Worcester and within sight and sound of Beamish Morgan if you need any spares (not that you will).

It sounds like a great road trip. I've done the far north of Scotland quite a bit in my MG and its wonderful, unspoiled, unhurried place.

I can only add that I am very envious, I am currently walking from Glasgow to Inverness, and would just love to come back with my 4/4 from Aus. but not realistic.

Do we have any members in Inverness?
