Welcome Simon - the great thing with Morgans is the choices you have. With a new car you get the thrill of specifying everything down to the stitching colour of the carpets, but you have the wait for delivery and pay top price. Dealers often have well spec-ed new cars ready to drive off and a selection of used vehicles. I imagine most used ones will have been loved, but like all of us they will age. A regular comment on TM is that a newish used car will have had the teething troubles of a brand new one fixed. Regarding finance there is a page on the Morgan Motor Company website to get a quote (from Heritage Motor Finance I think). I'm no finance advisor but it would make sense to shop around as you may find other companies, such as your bank, cheaper but the Morgan finance may offer more flexibility regarding smaller repayments and a larger final payment if that is what you prefer. Have a good look around and as many have already suggested - the right car will chose you. Good luck and enjoy the thrill of the chase.

Well I've gone bargain basement and am hoping to pick up my 4/4 next Thursday. Will report on how it goes!

Hi Simon,
welcome to this place! I see you once had a Mog, so you have a good idea of what you are letting yourself into! Do you still have the grease gun to grease the front suspension?
As has been said a nearly new, 2 to 4 year old Morgan purchased through a dealer will give you the most driving time, but you lose some choice. That said most things other than body and leather colour can be changed easily or added.
I echo Jay's comments about the 4/4s lack of torque. We tried one for a weekend and you have to love changing gear. So we got a 2009 Roadster.
That said if I was buying new I'd look very seriously at the new +4 with its new Ford GDI engine. The new 3.7 Roadster is both expensive, almost too powerful and the instruments look wrong....
You don't mention where you live: Morgan dealers range in their ability to respond to issues and new cars from the factory are not all perfect. If you want dealer advice just ask!
Finance: a good dealer can advise, as far s a finance company is concerned they are "just a car".

Ha, when I say I've gone bargain basement I really mean it! Have bought the cheapest one I could find. A 1975 4/4 with the Kent engine very much like the one I used to own. I'm working on the basis that it should never be worth much less than I've paid for it. It seems to be structurally sound and has been enthusiast maintained so we'll see how we go. Pictures etc will follow when I collect it! I'm from Devon by the way! Simon

I miss my '76 Simon. The simplicity and quick gearchange of the 4 speed are the main things! Good luck with your 'new' car

Thanks! You can see it on the Percival classics website. Obviously had a bit of home tinkering over the years but hopefully a good basis. Wood and chassis seems to be ok!
