I'm looking at various options when mounting the camera. Ideally I would like to place so that you get the view as if you were sitting behind the seats. My initial thought was to mount on the high rear brake light, which is rigid, central and high enough, but the surface is to curved. Anyone got any ideas?

Some good footage was acquired by Ruut here by a suction cup on the bonnet.

Not used Go Pro Mount, but used other RAM mounts. Not the cheap but very very solid.

Look at:
RAM Go Pro Mount

There a a myriad of mounting options to combine with them including suction cups.

I have a universal phone holder I fitted to my M3W and it is very good.

I've used a RAM mount to fit my Gopro to the top of the luggage rack and that gave a nice over the shoulder view of both me and passenger.

For us as well but fitted to the crossbar for the harnesses behind us.
Fab'ed a mount clamp and used ram universal mount bolted to that and then a bone and then the Ram GoPro mount.
One annoying thing the Ram GoPro mount has a screw rather than a GoPro Thumb/finger screw.
The threads are not compatible and the nut does not fit in the recess of the Ram GP mount not insurmountable but a pain. Very adjustable. Long and short bones and double balls to extend.

Thanks Richard. Today we were touring again and experimenting with our GoPro. I now think I'll buy a GoPro Jaws Flex Clamp, easily to attach to e.g. your luggage rack, permitting from a somewhat higher point of view the image from the rear, just seeing the driver / passenger, and their view. Otherwise, it becomes a little to "static".
For the rest, I must say that the suction cup is very steady and reliable on the bonnet, windscreen, etc. But I search for another point of view.

There is a clamp for handlebars which with one of the rubber inserts makes it fit fine to the top rail of the luggage rack. Works just fine!

Just returned from a short break in Split/Croatia where I drove a rented 4/4 and made some videos with a GoPro mounted with the suction cup on the bonnet right in front of the windscreen.

I used this mount:

There is a strong wobbling in the recorded video when the engine is in idle mode or at low rpm (see here: https://youtu.be/Swy4vuRbeTA).

This effect is said to be caused by vibrations.

Any experiences how to prevent this wobbling?

Michael

I have some good footage mounting the suction cup on the wing with the GoPro just above the headlight. It gives a different view and when making videos it adds some variety.

I fix it to the windscreen so it is above the hood rail. That works well
