Comb overs should only ever be used for comedy effect. Donald Trump being the master of the comedy comb over. He does do it for laughs, doesn't he?

My hair started thinning when I was 23 years old, so I've had plenty of time to get used to it! I trim it once a week with the shortest setting on my beard trimmers, it makes life so easy.
My 29 year old son has a full head of thick hair but my 27 year old son has been thinning for a few years so it's not all genetic (my Dad had plenty of hair until the day he died).

This was precipitated by a decision ( faced by many of us males who happen to be swimming in the particular genetic pool where being follicularly challanged rears its head:

Do I go with the dreaded comb-over or is it the shaved head look for me?

Well, before I had a chance to think any more about it, I shaved, its all gone and, I have to say I like it. Strangely liberating to not worry how your hair looks when you go out!

Now, I thought that this gave me a certain look of suaveness, sophistication, slight intrigue even. Why wouldn't you circulate a self portrait amongst a few people to get a bit of feedback?

Don't get me wrong, I like honesty in a person but...........

"Bad ass uncle Neil".......mmm, to see ourselves as others see us!

So, what is the feeling amongst TMers?.....comb over or shaved head?

Actually...............don't mind "bad ass" grin2

Cheers,
Neil.

My father was bald by the time he was 19 and at 51 I still have most of mine as fortunately my mother had a good head of hair! My father never looked back though and preferred it as he always said he could use a bar of soap instead of expensive shampoo and could part his hair with a sponge!

I have a nicely developing solar panel. Started MANY years ago when in late 20's - photograpehed for me then by a spectator watching the rugby match I was playing in.
DON'T go for a comb-over!!! redcard
Embrace the solar panel attitude - oldgit
Remember to use sunscreen etc when out Mogging without a hat.... umbrella
Use it to your advantage when someone mentions it- " thats not a bald patch, it's a solar panel for a sex machine" shades
Remember Gregor Fisher in the Hamlet photobooth advert?
I worked for Gallagher Tobacco and when he did that ad.
He did it with one take from start to finish , and was adjusting his comb-over in it.
Brilliant ad!

I started losing my hair in my early twenties. The two blond streaks from my temples were the first to go. I have had various cuts of beard in continuation from my twenties and one night about 15 years ago, following a good bottle of red I decided to trim my beard (as one does wine ) . With some little unexplained lurch I managed to cut a swathe from my side whiskers to a level above my ear. At that point the was nothing for it but to complete the job. I cut everything to 2mm and I have not looked back since. I am not so keen on the shaved scalp.
I now cut everything to 1mm and if it starts to get too long swmbo insists I trim it.

Due to sun damage to my scalp I do wear a cap in the Morgan and always go out with a hat of some sort.

I'm a bit worried about you JTL! It's the etc bit that worries me! shocked2

My hair is disappearing on top....thankfully not as quickly as my twin brothers! I'll take the plunge one day and have a number 2 cut and see what I think!

I grew a beard for charity last November - it's still there....
swmbo wants me to shave it off before we go on a cruise at end of June - says they won't let me aboard as my passport photo is clean shaved.
It has it's moral boosting side - Friday night in a pub a young( ish) woman approached me and said I looked like Sean Connery!
My Connery voice impression needs some work though. laugh2
