Hi Nigel,

Also took delivery at the end of April. Replaced my 2010 +4. In my opinion feels more responsive from rest and through the gears - although still running in, so not giving the full beans yet. Maybe more down to the Morgan mapping of the ECU than the small increase in power/torque ?

Can I ask how is the gearshift, and the exhaust sound? Also does it have any improvements to the suspension, e.g. as per Suplex, or to the brakes?

The variable cam timing gives more torque at lower revs. Depending on the variant it also develops more power too.

The Ford "Ecoboost" engine is remarkable, 243bhp and 270 ft/lbs from 2.0L....!!!

The Morgan motor is esentiall the same motor, without a turbo. It gives 160 hp and 146 lb·ft with an expected 40+mpg. Quite remakable.

The engines have been about since 2011 so are well proven. I'd expect it to be a real star. Already there is the possibility of a Throttle body/free flow exhaust kit taking it to over 200 bhp....

MORE!!

The engine costs Morgan about £3.7K, it seems. With Trhottle bodies about £1K more.

Who will be tempted first? That is as much as a Roadster.....!!

With the 2014 GDI, the suspension is standard Morgan, and OK for that - the gearchange is excellent, the gear ratios seem better, especially first, it feels longer - the exhaust note is a bit deeper than before but considering a sports exhaust anyway

How does the GDi sound? I've a bit of experience of the latest direct injection petrol engines, and they all remind me of my old Maestro diesel.

I have a GDI Turbo BMW and you are right, more disel than petrol sound. I But the Evoque sounded (when it was working) much better. So there is hope for Morgan.

I am seriously considering a new +4 and like others would be interested in the 200hp engine particularly as it appears to be about £1200 (incl vat) more than the 154hp version. See http://www.twinkam.co.uk/shop/article_SC240.001/Ford-2.0-Ti-VCT-GDI The factory seem not to be aware of what looks like a standard option but I understand are considering a more expensive option. Anyone know any more?
