Beat me to it... I wanted an 850 years ago... Ended up with a 750 for a short while, which was shipped to a mate in W.A. Should have kept my T140V...

First brand new bike I bought in 1978 was an 850 Commando, one of the last I think, with an electric start that you couldn't use on a cold engine but otherwise a good bike. Every Triumph I had fell to bits and sounded like a bag of nails. Had 5 Velo's and now only have the Thruxton left but all were well engineered. steve

Not really into bikes, but I think the Nortons look fab.
Following due diligence on account of the aforementioned problems - if I was in the market for a bike, then In the same way I am prepared to pay double the price of an MX5 for a Mog, the same would apply to a Cafe Racer.

Had an 850 commando that I rebuilt to conkers. All it did was to convince me how much better modern stuff is. And stripping and rebuilding also explained why british bikes were unreliable and expensive to make. Must have had at least twice as many components as a honda twin.
But I still think they are pretty.

That's nice Mike, don't let a dodgy knee stop you from a Velo. You can get an electric start mod for them these days. Fortunately my Thruxton has always been an easy starter but one day I may need some 'help' . Steve

Another one I should have kept. Where's the money gone ? This one has a Morgan link. Beautiful bike. Go on then, don't keep us in suspense - what's the Morgan link ?
Giles. Mogless in Paris.
